Dr. Melvyn Rubenfire is a renowned cardiologist in the University of Michigan Health System, as well as a professor in the department of internal medicine. He is also director of the Preventive Cardiology department, and specializes in cardiovascular disease.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Rubenfire's clinical interests include: Atherosclerosis detection, preventive cardiology, lipid management, and pulmonary hypertension. Other research interests include: coronary risk factors, and vascular reactivity.


Degrees and Professional Organizational Fellowships

Dr. Rubenfire earned a Medical Doctor's Degree from Wayne State University in 1965,and obtained the following fellowships: Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.


Residency and Certifications

Dr. Rubenfire served his residency at Sinai hospital, in Detroit, Michigan, from 1965-1968, and received a fellowship in Cardiovascular disease at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit,Michigan in 1970. His certifications include: Internal Medicine in 1965, Cardiovascular Disease in 1973, and Medical Examiner in 1965. He also received a qualification in Lipid Management in 2005.

Places of Work

Dr. Rubenfire generally works at the outpatient facility at Domino's Farms office park [1] in Ann Arbor, and will visit the Alfred Taubman Health Care Center. roughly once a week. He will also be working at the new state of the art cardiovascular center. At Domino's Farms, he practices Preventive Cardiology, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and the Cardiovascular Executive Health Program. He practices Pulmonary Hypertension at the Health Care Center.
