David Geffen, American music producer and gay record executive, was born February 21,1943.

He began his entertainment career in the mailroom at the William Morris Agency, quickl becoming an agent and promoting the careers of Joni Mitchel, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, and the Eagles.

He moved on to Warner Brothers, then Geffen Records, which handled Cher, Aerosmith and Nelson.

He founded the Geffen Film Company, producing "Little Shop of HOrrors", "Beetlejuice", "Dreamgirls" and "Cats.

As a gay man, he is sterotyped as part of the "Gay Hollywood Mafia" and was subjected to unfounded rumors that he had married Keanu Reeves.
