For images on wikipedia we need to know who owns the copyright to it, otherwise we are stealing the image without permission. Wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia, which means all of our material is freely licensed. For a definition of freedom in this context see freedomdefined.org. If you can get the person who owns the rights to license it under a free license then it can be used. If you do ask for permission please use Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. Getting permission to use it on wikipedia only is not enough, we need it to be licensed under a free license. Thanks, if you have any other questions feel free to come back to WP:MCQ :) - cohesion 05:16, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion

As it stands, the images will be automatically deleted anyway, so you don't really have to do anything. If you'd like to see them removed sooner, you can request deletion by editing the image pages and adding the tag {{db-author}}. An admin will be along to delete them before long. Naming Protocol

I am writing an article on Frederick "Dennis" Greene, formerly of Sha Na Na. There is a link for him in Sha Na Na's article, but there isn't one for him yet.

My dilemma is this, I don't know what name I should use to refer to him. Here's why:

  • His name is listed exactly as above on Sha Na Na's page. As far as I know this is his full name, so I wonder whether "Dennis" should be in quotes or not.
  • When he was in Sha Na Na, he was known simply as Denny, so that is probably the name most people know him by.
  • He is now a Professor, and is using the name Dennis Greene.

I am wondering whether he should be called Professor throughout the article? Because he wasn't one yet when he was in the group, but it seems that continuity is needed in the article. And it seems that not calling him Professor since he's reached that status would be disrespectful.

Sorry I'm so confused on this issue, but it's only my second article. I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me here.

Referring to him by his last name is conventional, but if he uses "Greene" on a regular basis as a performing name (as in 50 Cent or Madonna), you may use that instead. There is no real need to refer to him as a professor. If you have any other questions please do ask (on my talk page if you wish). I'm removing the help template as this issue seems to be resolved.

Broken links

In my article on Frederick "Dennis" Greene, the following two links don't work, as extra characters are added when submitted (%, etc.) They work when copy/pasted.

Hip: Hollywood and African American Film

of Dayton School of Law

Also, the titles don't show up right in these same links, and I've tried doing it several ways. The way they are shown above (in the edit box) is the way they are supposed to show.
