Hashim Thabit Manka (born February 16, 1987 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) is a Tanzanian college basketball player for the University of Connecticut Huskies. He is known as Hasheem Thabeet, as his name was Americanized from Swahili. At 7'3" and 265 lbs, Thabeet is the tallest player to ever play for the Huskies.[1].

On December 3, 2006, Thabeet tied a UConn record with 10 blocks[2].
He was named to the 2007 All-Big East Rookie Team along with fellow teammate Jerome Dyson.
Personal
He is the son of Mr. Thabit Manka (deceased) and Rukia Manka. His mother still resides in Dar Es Salaam. Has one sister, Sham and one brother, Akbar. Before UConn, Hasheem attended Cypress Christian School in Houston, Texas where he averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game. Hasheem is also good friends with Seattle SuperSonics center Saer Sene.
