There is currently just a long, incorrectly formatted list in this section. We need a source that he wrote these books - http://humanists.net/avijit/prabir/sra.htm lists the books, but doesn't explicitly say that he wrote them. And even if he wrote them, this long list with copied descriptions is not appropriate to an encyclopedia (better to give a link).

NPOV Biography

A definite peacock problem here with statements like, "With this knowledge of the human mind, his keen sense of politics gives him an insight and a rare understanding of all human problems." Needs a good scrub but if you remove all the extraneous stuff, there's little left.

Prabir Ghosh: Rationalist or a fake doctor?

This is Sukanta. I have visited the page on Prabir Ghosh. The page claims many things which in turn glorify Mr. Ghosh. I know Prabir Ghosh very well. So, I find it necessary to inform you some facts about this person:


1. The claim in the page talking about "20 times life attempts" is ridiculously false. Not a single immediate news-report can be produced to corroborate this, and any line of cross checking of its sources would surely lead to none other than Mr. Ghosh himself. Many of his claims of 'rationalist exposure' of some alleged miraculous events are also entirely fabricated (of course, this fact discredits Ghosh without justifying miracles).

2. This Prabir Ghosh is little more than a fake medical practitioner. In some books written by himself, he claimed himself to be a psychiatric healer, particularly a hypnotherapist, without having acquired any relevant training or academic qualification. I have collected those documents. I am giving here just two documents, collected from his book 'Dharma-Seva-Sammohan' (meaning, religion-service-hypnotism), where he calls himself a "Dr." and describes his "treatement procedure". However, the document is in Bengali. You may please translate them.

3. Hypnotherapic treatment procedures elaborately described by him in one of his books have been reviewed by renowned experts of this field from three different quarters – namely Indian Medical Association ( West Bengal Chapter), a Kolkata based professional organization of psychiatrists and psychologists called Diagnostic and Applied Neuropsychiatric Association and Prof. Arup Ghoshal, Reader of the Department of Applied Psychology of Kolkata University. All the three reports have separately but equivocally rejected Prabir Ghosh’s special techniques of hypnotherapy as not only unscientific but also perverted. Again, the health department of the West Bengal state government opined in black and white that Mr. Ghosh's book on hypotherapy is unscientific, obscene and condemable under section 292 of Indian Penal Code. I am having the copies of all the reports. A few documents are attached here. I have also a few videos that show his "hypnotic practices".

4. Prabir Ghosh has against him several allegations of sexual harassments of his female ‘patients’ in the name of hypnotherapic treatment. For sources, see the documents attached with point 6.

5. Prabir Ghosh also engaged himself in abusing a woman complainant with filthy words through telephone, a fact clearly substantiated by a report of the department of telecommunications of the Govt. of India and by a charge sheet prepared by the local police station. In this connection too, a state-versus case against Prabir Ghosh under section 509 IPC is pending in the Barrackpur Criminal Court (DUM DUM P.S. case No. 329 of 1996).

6. This Prabir Ghosh was actually expelled on the charge of such acts of fraudulence and malpractice from Bharatia Bigyan O Yuktibadi Samiti (Science & Rationalists’ Association of India) long back in 1996, and the news was covered by widely circulated Bengali dailies. I had collected those news clippings. A few are produced here.

7. A news channel (Kolkata TV) from India had broadcasted a news on June 11, 2007 that Wikipedia had ranked Prabir Ghosh as World's number one rationalist. I was shocked to hear the news. I did mail to wikipedia and they strongly ignored the whole thing. I am quite sure, Prabir was personally involved to abuse the media. Currently, a site is maintained claiming the same. The page is probably violating the policy on biographies of living persons [2].

Thanks to the person who actually added the above two lines. I have gone through the above mentioned site. However, I do not find any response to the allegations. It is again and again claimed that Prabir Ghosh is the general secretary of SRAI. But the "response" is completely silent about the allegations raised against him. Moreover, Prabir proposed the theory - "The whole conspiracy was instigated by a group of astrologers & funded N.G.O.s". If he is sure that this is conspiracy, he should give at least one proof which shows, this is really a "conspiracy" and "instigated by a group of astrologers & funded N.G.O.s". Readers, please go through the above mentioned link, and decide, why the "response" is silent about the allegations raised against him.

By the way, I am not Gour Adhikari, I am Sukanta Das. But I know Gour Adhikari as well as Prabir Ghosh. Gour Adhikari and me can be easily identified separately as both of us are government employees.

A FILTHY CONSPIRACY TO DEFAME PRABIR GHOSH FOR HIS GREAT WORK

sukanta has given some information of the year 1996, but is silent about wat happened since last 11 years. wat is the outcome of the investigation and court cases? does he has even a single case # where prabir ghosh was convicted? no . because till date prabir ghosh has won all the cases and didnot loose any. these conspirators were not able to proove anything SO THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A DIFFERENT STRATEGY...PROPAGANDA TO DEFAME THE RATIONALIST LEADER. people who are posting these are are liars, antisocials and enemy of rationalist movement. they get paid from astrologers and godmen to destroy rationalist movement. I know prabir ghosh since 1991-92. the above post is just a filthy conspiracy of magician, godmen, astrologers and funded NGOs to defame prabir for his work on rationalist and humanist movement. The post 'Prabir Ghosh: Rationalist or a fake doctor?' should be deleted as the information given in that post are false. sukanta mentioned that prabir ghosh was expelled in 1996, but what he kept secret is that there were number of court cases that were filed . as debashis mentioned , prabir ghosh has won all the cases and didnot loose any. according to the court judgement , prabir ghosh is the general secretary of bharatiya bigyan o yuktibadi samity without any DISCONTINUITY. that means according to court prabir ghosh was never expelled frm bharatiya bigyan o yuktibadi samity. these people are incorrigible liars and they are trying to create a bad name for prabir ghosh as they are paid by astrologers and godmen. these type of nasty and falsified post should be deleted SREYA BANERJEE BAHRATIYA BIGYAN O YUKTIBADI SAMITY -BANGALORE BRANCH

The post by sukanta Prabir Ghosh: Rationalist or a fake doctor is base on false allegation with the intention to defame prabir ghosh as a person. so it should be deleted. sukanta posted a newspaper clipping of 19.08.96 but forgot to mention whom newspaper and media potrayed as general secretary of bharatiya bigyan o yuktibadi samiti since last 11 years. it's not illogical to anticipate that sukanta gets paid from a particular group for being ignorant and spreading these message. let me post some newspaper clippings post 19.08.96

SUKANTA'S POST LACK SUFFICIENT PROOF , SHOULD BE DELETED

sukanta is very much vocal about the fact that law suit was filed against prabir ghosh but silent about if in last 11 verdict was given for any case. what was the verdict? wud the people who r trying to defame prabir ghosh be able to show atleast 1 instances where verdict was given against prabir ghosh and they won ? the answer is BIG NO. On the talk page of wikipedia for a another article, Sukanta said that pinaki ghosh is involbed in cyber crime but without any proof. can he show a single proof regarding that? the answer again is BIG NO. WAT A BIG INCORRIGIBLE LIAR U R , SUKANTA debasis chatterjee had produced sufficient document to prove that claim of sukanta is falsified. there is ample reason to beleive that sukanta's post was motivated by something else. i strongly beleive that people like sukanta should be banned from wikipedia and i request to delete his post. --Reemablue 07:54, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]


Why Sukanta Das Will Not Be Considered As a Criminal?

I agree with every points of Debasis Chatterjee. Sukanta Das is trying to defame the international figure Prabir Ghosh by proofless dirty claims.

1) Any Indian citizen can draw copy of the court cases and certified copy of the Registrar of Societies. As an Indian citizen, I drew the certified copy of Science and Rationalists’ Association of India from Registrar of Societies. Which is nothing but the same copy produced by Debasis Chatterjee. The expelled members are using name of SRAI till now. Is it not illegal?

2) In March 2005, when team of National Geographic was working to make a documentary film on Prabir Ghosh, he exposed cheating of a millionaire astrologer Satyananda. Then, on a TV program, Satyananda gave fatwa to shoot Prabir Ghosh. His musclemen attacked French Robert, Reporter of National Geographic (Please see cuttings of Bengali newspaper 'Aajkaal', dated 18, 19 and 20 March, 2005).


Video clippings of these events were broadcasted repeatedly (for some days) in a Bengali satellite channel ‘Akash Bangla’.

This event created storm from public, media to Legislative Assembly of West Bengal. Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya ordered to arrest Satyananda.

And he was put behind bars. At that time what was the activity of the expelled members? Obviously send e-mail (on 29 March 2005) to National Geographic making those baseless claims against Prabir Ghosh. For details please click the link below.

Is it not an example of strengthen Satyananda’s Black Hand? Actually these illegal activists were packed with the astrologer. (They are habituated to do this kind of work.) Even some politicians were with them!

3) Pinaki Ghosh did a sting operation for BBC to expose a cyber crime, which has stated by Sukanta Das. But Sukanta made proofless claim that, Pinaki Ghosh was involved with the cyber crime. Who exposed the crime, was he the criminal? Is it not a statement like a foolish goat? Pinaki Ghosh also did a sting operation for BBC, which exposed a big crime of Missionaries of Charity. Before broadcast whole of these sting operations, BBC had shown clippings. Who is involved to clear crime from society, Sukanta claiming that, he is the criminal! Is these false claims are not crime?

I demand to delete whole message entitled ‘Prabir Ghosh: Rationalist or a fake doctor?’ and ban fraud & criminal Sukanta Das from Wikipedia. Otherwise, good reputation of Wikipedia must be ruined.

Response of Sukanta

I am delighted to learn that so many good new friends of mine have cared to hear me. Such new friends having so many harsh words to throw at me (for some of which normal grammar, case & font wasn’t considered well enough), actually exposed Prabir Ghosh in such a conclusive fashion that I even couldn’t have even dreamt of. Let’s list the issues pointed out by me what they don’t have to say anything about and apparently is already aware of:

1. Ghosh falsely interpreted the contents of a wikipedia page to fox a TV channel (Kolkata TV) into broadcasting Ghosh’s meaningless claim of being “World’s number one rationalist” as a hard news. Till today a site (to check, click here [4]), claiming the same is maintained by them to make the people stupid.

2. Ghosh’s claim of facing “20 times life attempts” is totally baseless.

3. Many of his claims of “rationalist exposure” of alleged miraculous events are also fabricated (and I beg to add again, parts of his writings are not too sophisticated plagiarism).

4. He falsely claims to be a trained doctor and dangerously engages in hypnotherapy (not only practices but also teaching layman), encroaching the boundaries of law and ethics.

5. He has against him allegations of sexual harassment in the name of treatment.

6. He described at length in his book his special techniques of hypnotherapy, and those techniques were rejected by genuine experts as perverted and unscientific.


Now if all these are left untouched, one wonders, what remains to constitute a ‘notable (or great) rationalist’? Nevertheless, attention is to be paid to a few points, which all they have said must boil down to. I present them along with my comments in separate modules:

They: Between 1996 and now, the media again and again called Ghosh the leader of SRAI.
Me: This is as true for Ghosh as for his opponents. Philosophers have ever proposed doggedly opposing theories to pin down the real factors constituting pure truth, but none of them said that credulity of journalists is one of them. Remember, the men working for Kolkata TV didn’t even care to cross check the status of the stupid claim of Ghosh - matter of a few mouse clicks.

They: If Ghosh is so bad, why isn’t he arrested?
Me: I believe this is a very right question asked to the wrong person. Only the police and administrative persons can answer this. What I can add here is that exactly the same may be asked about so many unscrupulous men, some of whom are much bigger fish than Ghosh.

They: Ghosh is the real General Secretary of SRAI. He won all the 14 cases filed by the conspirators. The unauthorized conspirators are misusing the banner of SRAI.
Me: It could be my turn to ask, if it is so, ‘why don’t the police arrest them’, but I know that’s worthless. I don’t think the question of legality or illegality of holding the banner of SRAI (by anyone) is much relevant in this context. I referred to this and cited the news clippings only to show that the misdeeds of Ghosh are widely known, in and outside of SRAI which is not falsified by the responses.
I know a little about a few court cases, but the number 14 seems really too much. I would be obliged to have specific references about each of them, and also about those filled by Ghosh against his conspirators and defamers, if any.
Lastly, winning all cases is potentially absurd, as many of them are ongoing still, as the one I specially referred to. Also, it is apparent from the responses that the activities of SRAI are parallelly run by others.

They: Ghosh won the criminal case filed against him for molestation in the name of treatment.
Me: I cited news clippings but not specific complains which they thankfully cared to do. This win could have been really convincing, only if Ghosh himself didn’t claim in his book as his method of treatment exactly what the woman complained in black and white to the court, and if Ghosh’s description of his ‘patients’ stature and feature didn’t exactly fit those of the real complaint, and if the case wasn’t filed before the publication of his books! All these are easily demonstrable. You can cheat court, but not history.

They: Sukanta, along with the opponents of Ghosh, is acting to defame Ghosh in the pay of godmen, astrologers and funded NGOs.
Me: The burden of proof is of course upon themselves which they don’t care to bear. But one may wonder, how much money it will take to hire the national level doctors’ association, so many university experts and the state health department – all who opined against him – along with me, an IT teacher of a reputed university!
And yes, funded NGOs, are they really so bad? Well, I don’t know whether Ghosh’s opponents ever received government funding, but I can prove Ghosh himself certainly did!

They: Prabir Ghosh’s son Pinaki Ghosh was not involved in, but actually worked for BBC for exposing cyber crimes.
Me: Again I am thankful to my friends, as they remembered me the facts about Pinaki Ghosh who played a key role to promote his father in wikipedia, though I didn’t mention his name in this page. Pinaki added Ghosh’s name at the beginning of a list of ‘notable rationalists’ maintained in Rationalist movement page, based on which Kolkata TV broadcasted a news on June 11, 2007 that Wikipedia had ranked Prabir Ghosh as World's number one rationalist. Prabir as well as Pinaki were involved to abuse the media. This Pinaki Ghosh was allegedly involved in serious cyber crimes. The relevant news clippings can be found here [5]. (The news are in Bengali, you may please translate them.) Did Pinaki or BBC take any action against the news paper? I would like to have details.

These responses are full of so many irrelevant documents, incoherent talks and false information which I consider not worthy of discussion, but must be said about the attitude of my responsive friends. I won’t reciprocate the allegation that they are people hired by Prabir Ghosh – even the worst molester has unquestioning followers. But I must draw the reader’s attention to the fact that they don’t retain the courage to ask their master about the inconsistency of his own claims. This is a culture that is typical not of rationalists but of the cult groups headed by fakes. Rationalist philosophy does not allow deception. -- Sukanta

SUKANTA'S CLAIM OF JUDGEMENT COPY OF COURT AS "IRRELEVANT DOCUMENTS", INCRIMANTES HIM AS NINCOMPOOP

Beyond question is sukanta's deligence to defame prabir, smart people can make out what's motivating him. when sukanta's says certified copy of a judgement of court as irrelevant documents, common people with normal level of intelligence has to question his accumen. 1) can sukanta show any 1 case reference and a certified copy of the judgement that shows prabir ghosh was convicted? any body can file a case against any 1. but that proves nothing. 2) no where prabir ghosh claimed that he is a doctor (medical practitioner). there's a difference betweena doctor and doctorate degree holder. the book dharma-seba-sammohan was published in jan1997. so in last 10 years, people who are so vocal to claim that his doctorate degree is fake were not upright and candid enough to take legal action against prabir and put him behind bars. sukanta may felt mercy on prabir to cite specific complains against prabir about sexual harrashment. however in my last post, i gave the specific details that an expelled member sutapa bandapadhyay complained that she was molested by prabir. SUTAPA LOST THAT CASE AND PRABIR WAS PROVED NOT GUILTY.the judgement day was 21march 07. sukanta, please be specific. who was sexually harrased ? WERE YOU SEXUALLY HARRASED BY PRABIR GHOSH? IF YES, DID YOU FILED A CASE? PLS LET US KNOW IN DETAILS. 3) SRAI is a registered organisation and registrar accepts prabir ghosh (and him only) as gen. sec of SRAI. registered copy i had already submitted before. 4) sukanta , for your information, you have no right to demand for an answer from pinaki or prabir ghosh. if you have any criminal allegation against them pls feel free to produce the judgemnet copy of their conviction. otherwise STOP THIS KIND OF MONKEY-BUISNESS. your response without any legal documents has accentuated how base-less your allegation are your unscrupulous intention is also not obscure.
