Rufus Shinra

Rufus Shinra was at the beginning of Final Fantasy VII the Vice-President of Shinra, Inc., a monopoly corporation and de facto world government. Rufus was said to have been on a mission somewhere else for a long time and only shows up in the game, after his father, the President of the company, is killed by Sephiroth.

Rufus arrives via Helicopter to Shinra, Inc headquarters in Midgar and greets Cloud and the others. While there he quickly delivers his opening address as Presidnet, promising change. Cloud then fights Rufus after they have a conflict of interests, while the other party members escape on an elevator. Rufus escapes on that same helicopter to safety after Cloud damages him enough. His preferred weapon of choice seems to be a double-barreled shotgun.

Late in the Game, one of the WEAPONS created by the planet appears out of the sea near the northern crater and approaches Midgar in an attempt to stop the Sister Ray from firing. During Diamond WEAPON's assault on Midgar, Rufus Shinra is presumeably killed... and up until the movie Advent Children, there was very little doubt that Rufus was dead.

Rufus Shinra is a character in the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, produced by Square Enix. Rufus is the man sitting in the wheelchair and wearing a blanket. He apparently suffers from the last stages of the disease called Geostigma. Rufus tries to enlist the help of Cloud Strife, but he also appears to be in league with the three Silver Haired Men, Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo, who attack Cloud in the movie.
