Test or testing may be one of the following processes:

  • Test and experiment form parts of the scientific method, to verify or falsify an expectation with an observation. See statistical hypothesis testing for the case when the outcome is subject to random variation
  • A Test method is a definitive procedure which produces a test result.
  • A Fire test, which is used to qualify fire protection products
  • A Test (student assessment), in education, (also called an "examination" or "exam") serves to assess or measure students' performance, knowledge or skills
  • In law, Legal tests are a term of art for the application of a multi-part legal standard to a question of fact or law
  • Quality control testing, in manufacturing, a procedure designed to test the functionality of a product under potentially harmful conditions; see also system under test
  • Software testing, in software engineering, identifies defects in programs
  • In marketing, a type of marketing research.
