Childhood

Main Article: In Remembrance of Courage Past

Courage had lived with his parents as a pup until an evil veterinarian rocketed his parents to the moon as part of an experiment. Muriel found Courage in an allley sobbing over his parents soon after and took him with her home. This veterinarian later attempted to send Courage to the moon as well, but Courage escaped and threw the veterinarian into the rocket instead. On the moon, it showed Courage's Parents stll alive ready to beat up the vet.

Quotes

  • Courage is recognizable for his scream of terror (often accompanied by exaggerated and grotesque visual images) and his catchphrases:
  • "The things I do for love!"
  • "Sometihng smells fishy or my name's (something rather unusual). And it's not!"
  • "Muriel's in trouble!"
  • "I know I'm not gonna like this!"
  • "Sometimes a dog's got to do what a dogs got to do and I'm the only dog here!"

Trivia

  • When Cartoon Network watched the show during season 1, they agreed that Courage "talked too much" and ordered that his English lines were to be reduced. This clearly explains why Courage is mostly silent in seasons 2, 3, and 4. The idea of turning Courage from a talking dog to a dog with few lines caused mixed reactions. Some thought that CN made it look like Courage cannot talk at all as there have been episodes where he is silent.
  • Courage has a hole in his tooth and the show has never shown how he got it. Many fans believe it was from bad hygiene.
