High School Musical: The Concert was a 40-city concert tour based on the popular hit Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, sponsored by AEG Live and presented by Buena Vista Concerts. The concert was performed in cities of the United States, Canada, Brazil and Latin America.
High School Musical: The Concert expanded the Disney Channel franchise that has already produced a triple-platinum selling soundtrack and a planned movie sequel.
Disney is already scoring a success with another concert based on a TV musical, The Cheetah Girls, which is on a sold-out tour of 88 cities.
The concert, which featured songs from the film, also included cast members Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Monique Coleman and Vanessa Anne Hudgens. Zac Efron did not join the rest of the cast in order to work on Hairspray. Joining them instead was Drew Seeley, who co-wrote "Get'cha Head in the Game" and sang as Troy in High School Musical. Jordan Pruitt was the show's opening act.

- The concert CD/DVD was taped in Houston, Texas On December 18, 2006 at the Toyota Center. The concert typically ran two and a half hours (150 minutes). On May 1, 2007, the concert was released on both CD and DVD together. On May 4, the concert premiered on Disney Channel. Also, the concert was featured from April 30-May 6, 2007 on the newly updated Disney website under DXD's D*Concert.
- The show's touring producer, creative director and director was the movie's director and choreographer Kenny Ortega. In one concert, as seen on YouTube, the cast introduced him before singing one last chorus of "We're All in This Together."
- The live version of "Start of Something New" recorded at the Houston concert was included in the Radio Disney Jams Vol. 9 CD.
- In Mexico the release was on April 30, 2007.[1] In the US the release was on May 1, 2007.
- After High School Musical 2 airs, the cast will again go on tour. It should start this winter (as they say), but it is still not confirmed. Also, it is rumored that Zac Efron will appear in the second tour. Also, that Lucas Grabeel will be the emcee and McCall Clark will be the co-emcee.
- Jordan Pruitt is featured on the concert DVD.[2]
- The cast made four visits to South America: Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Venezuela.
- In May 26, 2007, the concert made in Buenos Aires, Argentina was shown in Disney Channel Latin America. Though, none of Ashley Tisdale's songs were aired and Vanessa Hudgens just aired the song "Come Back to Me". After the concert aired it premiered the DCOM "Jump In!".
- In the Latinoamerica concerts, some parts of the songs "What I've Been Looking For" and "When There Was Me And You" are sung in Spanish.
- Corbin Bleu's showcase was fetured on a DVD that came with his new album Another Side.
- In June 9, 2007, the concert made in Santiago, Chile was shown in Canal 13. Though, none of Ashley Tisdale's songs were aired and Vanessa Hudgens aired the song "Come Back to Me", "Let's Dance" and "Say OK".
- On June 10, 2007 the concert filmed in Mexico City, Mexico was aired on Disney Channel Latin America.
- Each of the singers had two microphones during the performances, a headset microphone with a flesh-toned pad on the tip, and a hand microphone.
- Lucas Grabeel served as the emcee.
- For the Drew Seeley song "Dance with Me" there was an extended guitar solo which allowed Monique Coleman to be featured in an extended tango number with both backup dancer Jared Murillo and Drew.
