Saosin is a emo/post hardcore/screamo band from California, originally formed during 2003. They have released an EP ("Translating the Name"). Several individual completed songs have also been included on compilations, including "I Can Tell There Was An Accident Here Earlier" on a compilation album entitled "Music on the Brain" and "Bury Your Head" on a compilation album entitled "Atticus... Dragging the Lake Part 3".

Several song demos can also be found on the internet, many having origins on their MySpace site. A video to the song "Bury Your Head" recorded during their tours has also been shown on Fuse during 2005. The bands partly consists of former members of the band Open Hand.

They band have managed gained large amounts of respect in the underground scene, and have a significant internet fanbase with the band's name resulting in over 56,000 hits in Google. They have recently signed to Capitol Records with an album rumoured to be forthcoming in 2006, having formerly been on band-owned indie record label Death Do Us Part.

During 2005, the band have been touring the United States and have become part of the Warped Tour 2005.

History

In 2004, the band's vocalist and songwriter, Anthony Green, left. After a public auditions process, and several guest vocalists on demos, Cove Reber was announced as their new permanent lead singer. People have been known to comment that Green and Reber's vocal style are extremely similar.

After leaving Saosin, vocalist Anthony Green went on to work with Matthew Embree, frontman of political punks the Rx Bandits, as well as several members of the group Finch in a progressive rock project called the Sound of Animals Fighting. Anthony Green now fronts Circa Survive, an indie/alternative band, that released it's debut full length, "Juturna" in the Spring of 2005.

Bassist Zach Kennedy has also parted from the band, leaving over personal issues, and to focus on his art career. He has been replaced with Chris Sorenson. He now plays bass in Ashlee Simpson's band.

Pat McGrath, a former Slayer drum technician, was hired by Beau Burchell to record the drum track for Translating The Name. He played one show with them, and quit shortly after.
