Daniel is a Croatian pop singer.

His real name is Danijel Popovic (Danijel Popovic).

In 1983, as a candidate from Croatia, he won the right to represent Yugoslavia at Eurovision Song Contest with the song Džuli. His victory was somewhat unexpected, because most observers saw popular folk singer Lepa Brena, representative of Vojvodina, as a clear favourite. This led to great discontent among Brena fans.

Daniel proved sceptics wrong by winning 4th place, the best yet in history of Yugoslav participation in Eurovision Song Contest.

Like many other Eurovision Song Contest contestants, Daniel failed to build on his triumph and his career gradually petered out until early 1990s.
