Ruby Anderson was a fictional character on the popular ABC soap opera, General Hospital. She was played by actress Norma Connolly, who began playing the part in 1979.

Character History

Ruby was a former prostitute. She took a young Bobbie Spencer under her wing, who was also a prostitite. She got out of the life, became an employee at General Hospital and bought a diner which she called Kelly's . She was the one who inspired Bobbie to become a surgical nurse.

Ruby met a young Jagger Cates in 1992 when Jagger and his friends broke into Kelly's Diner. During the scuffle, Ruby was knocked out and Jagger was shot by the police while fleeing the scene. Ruby eventually forgave Jagger and gave a job and a room above Kelly's.

In 1997, Ruby met a rebellious girl named Elizabeth Webber . Elizabeth casually ordered a beer and didn't have proper id. Suspecting she was underage, Ruby served her a root beer instead. Eventually Ruby grew fond of Elizabeth and also gave her a job as a waitress.

Norma Connolly passed away in 1999. Soon after the character's death was written into the show. Upon her death, Kelly's diner was inherited by Bobbie and Luke Spencer.
