Appearance
Liquefied natural gas is used to transport natural gas over long distances, often by sea. In most cases, LNG terminals are purpose built ports used exclusively to export or import LNG.

- Barrow Island - Chevron Corporation proposes to build an LNG facility and loading terminal on Barrow Island, Western Australia, as part of its Gorgon Project.[16]

US and Gulf of Mexico
- Crown Landing LNG Terminal, Gloucester County, New Jersey - A proposed LNG terminal to be located along the Delaware River. BP is working for regulatory approval and the LNG terminal is expected to be online by the end of 2008. [20]
Canada
- WestPac LNG Terminal, Texada Island, British Columbia - A proposed LNG terminal & 600-watt Natural gas power plant to be located on the northern tip of Texada Island. Said to cost about $2 Billion CDN.[21] Location is near the underground pipeline that connects Vancouver Island's electricity to the Mainland. [22]
Netherlands
- Gate Terminal, Rotterdam, Netherlands - LNG terminal to be located on the Maasvlakte, part of the harbour and industrial area of the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, proposed by the gas company N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie and logistics company Vopak. Regulatory approval has been granted for the largest part. [24]
- LionGas Terminal, Rotterdam, Netherlands - LNG terminal to be located in the harbour and industrial area of the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, which will be developed by 4Gas. All necessary regulatory approval has been granted. Construction is expected to start mid-2007 and operation to start in the second half of 2010. [25]
- Eemshaven LNG, Eemshaven, Netherlands - LNG terminal to be located in the seaport of Eemshaven in the Dutch province of Groningen, proposed by Dutch energy company Essent and American oil company ConocoPhillips. [26]
France
- Fos Cavaou LNG Terminal - LNG terminal under construction in the south of France. Operation is expected to start operation mid-2007. [27]
UK
- South Hook Terminal, Milford Haven, UK. Qatar Petroleum and Exxon Mobil are behind the project. [28]
- Dragon LNG, Milford Haven, UK is under construction in Milford Haven, UK. See for the project website. Companies behind the terminal are BG, Petronas of Malaysia and 4Gas. [29]
