TCG[1] is the title of The Cheetah Girls' official debut studio album.[2]. It is due to be released on Hollywood Records on September 25, 2007.[1]

About

The Girls began work on the album while touring the U.S. on their The Party's Just Begun Tour which began in September 2006 and ended in March 2007.

Group member Adrienne Bailon was quoted as saying, "We'll be making a real album, not a soundtrack. Some of the music on there will be produced by will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. It's important for people to see us as a real musical group. We have all this great marketing around us, with the movies and other things. But we are a musical group." She also added that the soundtracks and Christmas album "don't count".[3]

Group member Sabrina Bryan was interviewed by Billboard Magazine and stated that the group was eager to showcase a more mature sound to gather an audience of older fans while keeping the lyrics clean for the younger fanbase as well. She stated that the group would work with some of the producers that they had previously worked with, while also exploring new producers that they hadn't yet worked with. In this interview it was also revealed that the group would release the album on Hollywood Records, instead of Walt Disney Records which was the record label used to release the group's soundtrack albums, their holiday album Cheetah-licious Christmas, and their live album In Concert: The Party's Just Begun Tour.[4].

Group member Kiely Williams, describing the album, stated "It's like the first look at the Cheetah Girls apart from our roles in the show. … Just Sabrina, Adrienne and Kiely kind of saying what we feel … We actually co-produced and wrote a good portion of the album." She also confirmed that this album will be "a little bit more mature than what the fans are used to". She also described the music on the album as a blend of hip-hop and R&B.[5]

The track So Bring It On was performed at the closing ceremonies of the 2007 Disney Channel Games and will be aired on Disney Channel on August 25, 2007. The girls also stated in the DVD to their In Concert: The Party's Just Begun Tour CD/DVD combo that, with this album, the fans will get to know them as "Adrienne, Sabrina, and Kiely" and not as their characters from the films.

On August 5, 2007 Ken Bunt, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Hollywood Records announced that the album would not be released in CDVU+ format contrary to the Jonas Brothers' second album being released in the format. Also announced was that the Girls would open a new official Hollywood Records website after they approved the packaging for the CD as well as images for the website, and that the Girls wish to re-release the album with 2 CDs of material they recorded. Later that same day he made the announcement that the first single from the album would be So Bring It On and a video would be shot and will premiere on the Disney Channel on September 7, 2007.

Also recently announced, Fuego will be the second single from the album[6]. Group member Kiely Williams said she was interested in directing the video.[6] The song samples Lionel Richie's "All Night Long,"[7] and the video will be a "destination video" with a luau theme and will be filmed in an "exotic" location.[6]

The CD will be released on September 25, 2007 and will have a special edition exculsivly at Wal-Mart with a bonus disc of five songs, two of which are spanish versions of songs that will appear on the regular album. Also a special edition of the album will be released at Target which will carry a bonus song and a free download for a ringtone.
