Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford
The Diocese of Salford is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Salford, Greater Manchester, England.
It was founded in 1850 as one of the first post-Reformation Catholic dioceses. Since 1911 the diocese of Salford has formed part of the Province of Liverpool. Its current boundaries encompass Manchester and a large part of the traditional county of Lancashire between the River Mersey and the River Ribble including Preston as well as some parishes north of the Ribble. The famous Catholic school Stonyhurst College is also within the diocese.
As of 2005 the diocese included 207 churches and chapels of ease.
