Cristian Alejandro Vega is a fictional character on the American daytime drama One Life to Live. The character was originated by Yorlin Madera (1995-1998) and now played by David Fumero (1998-2003; 2004-2005; 2005-present).
Character history
Cristian first debuted as the teenage son Carlotta Vega, the maid to Dorian Lord. One of Cristian's early storylines was his romance with his first love, newspaper heiress Jessica Buchanan. In later years, Cristian dated Jennifer Rappaport and then fell in love with Natalie Buchanan, Jessica's long-lost sister.
A major storyline included Cris being "killed" soon not too long after his 2003 wedding to Natalie, only to show up alive a year later. Several months later, he went to jail for murdering his newfound cousin Tico Santi; during this time it was also revealed that Cristian's brother Antonio was actually his maternal first cousin, adopted by Cristian's parents. In late 2005, Cristian was released from jail when his lawyer Evangeline Williamson proved he was brainwashed into murdering Tico. Cristian and Evangeline developed a deep friendship. Evangeline was blinded and Cristian was there for her throughout the entire ordeal.
Cristian and Evangeline grew closer and soon started a relationship, eventually declaring their love for one another. At one point Cristian said to Evangeline that he loved her more than anyone else in his life. Cristian and Evangeline have been through many difficulties. Cristian was set up by his manager in a boxing scandal, but was later cleared of the charges when Vincent Jones confessed. Soon after, Cristian was framed again for multiple cases of arson in Llanview; Evangeline supported his innocence, and the arsons were revealed to be racially-motivated crimes by the White supremacist group "One Pure People".
Evangeline's friendship (and kiss) with Todd Manning disrupted their relationship and caused she and Cristian to separate. During this time Cristian slept with Todd's ex-wife Blair Cramer, the two of them thinking that Evangeline and Todd were sleeping together at the same time. Cristian and Evangeline were making their way back together when, in a final attack by OPP in May 2007, Cristian's loft was filled with poison gas, which injured several people and left Evangeline in a coma.
Cristian has not seen Evangeline since she was sent to a long-term care facility, due to a "family only" rule, but he has stated that he is waiting for her return. Meanwhile, Buchanan heiress Sarah Roberts has moved in to his loft and is making a nuisance of herself while Cris serves as her protector from her dangerous ex-boyfriend.
