Meter serial number
Appearance
A meter serial number (or 'meter ID') is an 8 digit alphanumeric reference used in Great Britain to uniquely identify an electricity meter.
Meter serial numbers take the form A##A ##### (e.g. J01K 02614). The first letter indicates the manufacturer, the first two digits indicate the year of manufacture, and the second letter indicates the Distribution Network Operator to have purchased the meter. The five digit sequence is a serial batch number.
