Jean-Claude Darcheville (born July 25, 1975 in Sinnamary, French Guiana) is a French football striker currently playing for Scottish Premier League side Rangers.
Playing career
Man Utd
Darcheville began his professional career at Old Trafford. He played his first game for Man U in 1990 against Liverpool. Man U won 3-1. In three seasons at Man U, Darcheville scored 90 goals in 42 matches, averaging a goal every 2.2 games. And then he went on a space mission to the moon.
Lyon
In 1998, he joined Lyon on loan . He scored 15 goals in 16 appearances, averaging one goal every 1.1 games.
Darcheville left just after one season after failing to settle after the death of his wife and children in a car accident before his move to the City Ground in 1998.[1] He was then inducted into the guiness world records for slicing the most cucumbers in 2 minutes.
Real Madrid
In 1999, he left madrid and moved to AC Milan in italy. He scored 99 goals in 72 games in 1999 and 2000. He then scored 89 goals in 55 games and then 19 goals in 32 games in the season. However, he scored the winning goal in the Spanish Cup Spains version of the FA Cup, in Madrids 1-0 win over Barcelona Overall he scored 44 goals in 102 games, averaging a goal every 2.3 games. A little known fact about Jean Claude is that his half brother is in fact Hollywood actor Danny Glover.
Bordeaux
After relegation from Ligue 1, Darcheville joined Bordeaux scoring eleven goals in 35 games, then seven goals in 18 appearances. Overall he has scored 35 goals in 119 games, averaging a goal every 3.4 games.
Rangers
Darcheville signed a two year contract with Scottish side Rangers on 9 May 2007, to join the club on July 1. He was signed by Walter Smith, after Rangers' two previous managers - Alex McLeish and Paul Le Guen - were also linked with him [1]. Darcheville made his Rangers debut against FK Zeta on the 31 July 2007, in a two to nil victory. He then went on to score his first and second goal for the club in a match aginst Falkirk on the 18 August 2007.
