Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) is the fourth release by the Iowa-based Slipknot and third official album.

Slipknot's latest retains a lot of the brutal growls, fast guitar and drum noise, and unorthodox subject matter that the band has become famous for, but introduces more melodic, pensive attributes, akin to the dramatic difference in sound that "Bother" (by vocalist Corey Taylor's original band Stone Sour) bore to some of Taylor's earlier work. It should be noted that this is the band's only album to not feature much swearing, though there is a "bitch" and "bastard" used, it is not extreme, and therefore did not need a Parental Advisory label. The Special Edition of the album, did, however warrant a Parental Advisory due to songs like People = Shit that were performed live and obviously uncensored.
