Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec
Appearance
The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec manages public pension plans in the Canadian province of Québec. It was founded in 1965 by an act of the National Assembly. The name means "Quebec Deposit and Investment Fund", but the official French name is normally used in English. As of December 31, 2006, depositors' net assets totalled CA$143.5 billion, and the Caisse’s total assets under management amounted to CA$237.3 billion. The Caisse is headquartered in Quebec City and has a business office in Montreal.
The Caisse was created in the 1960s on the advice of economist (and future Premier) Jacques Parizeau. The Caisse's large holdings make it a formidable player in investment markets.
