A Somali-American is an American of Somali descent.
The first Somalis arrived in the 1940s, and they came to New York. A majority of Somali-Americans arrived during the wars in their country in the 1990s.
The heaviest concentrations of Somali-Americans live in the Twin Cities (mainly Minneapolis and St.Cloud, Minnesota), and Columbus, Ohio.
There are also Somali-Americans communities in San Diego, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Portland, Denver, Lewiston, ME, Portland, ME, Boston, Nashville, in Washington, DC metro area, Louisville, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arlington, Garden Grove, Orange, San Jose, Oakland, Cedar Rapids, and in Salt Lake City although they are scattered throughout the United States of America in small numbers.
The latest influx of Somalis have migrated to Arizona in recent years, mostly of them live in Phoenix and Tucson. The states with the most Somali-Americans are Minnesota, Ohio, California, Georgia, Washington, Texas, Massachusetts, Virginia, Colorado and Maryland.

Somali-Americans are of Somalis from all clans in Somalia. The most recent Somali-Americans are of the Somali Bantus. Most all Somali-Americand tend to keep their culture, and religion intact despite their long staying in the United States. Somali-Americans are doctors, professors, and hold other important positions in America's society.
