By looking at my userpage history, it is clear that vandailsm has occured on several occasions. Being that most who know me personally know my username "tingalex", I would like to change it, hopefully eliminating the vandalism. I do not want wikipedians to have bias views of me because of idiotic comments on my userpage and discussion page. Thanks for changing the name, and thanks for explaining what likely happened. Sometimes it can take a while for all the contribs to transfer, and sometimes it seems to only transfer half, then get stuck for a bit. So far it's always transferred them all, for me. --Deskana (banana) 09:23, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, don't think I'm being aggressive here, but maybe you can't see how difficult it is right now because you're not open-minded enough and too focused on your mother tongue AND non-canadian english keyboard layout. It is common sense that any french speaker to whom I would tell my username is "L'oeuf" will write it according to the french orthograph, that is to say "L'œuf", which is far easier to type on a non british nor american keyboard layout, for instance the french, the canadian, or the swiss ones! Nevertheless, it *is* probably also simple on your personal layout: On most linux distros you just have to alt gr + o or such… L'oeuf 22:31, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would be happy for you to register User:L'œuf and redirect the user page and user talk page to your account. However, I am not happy renaming you to this name, as I feel it does not help your reachability. I was also quite happy to discuss this matter... but I feel you're ranting at me somewhat. I respect people of other races... but please remember this is the Wikipedia for the English Language. I would imagine most users would have a hard time typing œ. Ted Frank → Blocked troll

  • Requested name: Renamed user 2 (rename user)
  • Reason: A vandal created this fake account under my real name and vandalized the Ted Frank article. The User:Ted Frank account of this fake user is now indef-blocked. I am concerned that someone not entirely Wikipedia-savvy could look at the edit history and falsely think Ted Frank tried to edit the Ted Frank article and was indef-blocked for doing so; I am also concerned that "User:Ted Frank" may rank high in Google searches because of the Google-weight of Wikipedia entries. Could an admin rename the user so that the edits do not appear under my name? "Blocked troll" is just a suggestion: any placeholder that makes it clear that it was not me who vandalized the article is acceptable. Theodore Frank 00:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who is "he"? I am the real Ted Frank. I am asking that a fake User:Ted Frank account be renamed so that it does not say its edits were made by "Ted Frank" when the real Ted Frank did not make the edits. Where is the problem? Can someone other than Jonathan look at this since Jonathan (1) doesn't understand the request after it's been explained to him three times and (2) isn't even a bureaucrat? Note. I believe there's precedent for this, where former usernames of renamed admins have been taken by vandals - it seems a fairly unproblematic request. He's referring to this conversation where they objected to the 4uwingnuts part of his name. Editors at help desk said that this seemed to be calling other users "nuts." Saying that someone can't have a username with the phrase "Factcheck" in it seems like an overly strict interpretation of WP:U.
