How do you know that ESSO really stands for "Eastern Seaboard Standard Oil" and not for the pronunciation of "S.O." (Standard Oil), as it is stated everywhere else?

Winter Scene Picture

I truly thought the ESSO picture was taken in Canada until I saw the Norwegian text and the header. The ESSO stations in Canada look almost exactly the same. Even the 2m snowbank is very Canadian as is the bright yellow house. rasblue 02:55, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I heard of a case of an Esso station in Vancouver, when it opened, had all its signage in German, and with a giant German flag. Turns out it was a big corporate mistake... Kirjtc2 18:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marketing name

Are there any Esso stations in the old Standard of NJ territory in the USA? I thought their "claim" to the Esso name was putting the Esso logo on motor oil products sold in those states. (For what its worth, there's an Exxon station in Windsor, Ontario, which I can only assume is there for the same legal reasons...) Kirjtc2 18:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shitty Employer

I worked as an attendant for ESSO in Ottawa, Ontario for a couple of years in the late 90's to make some extra cash. They are not fun to work for. They made me pay 50 bucks for a fill and run, that was not my fault. All they care about is $$$$!

Sorry to be a bore. However, this is an important FACT. eSSO lost a legal case in france to which allowed environmental groups to use the E$$O logo. THis MUST be refelected in this Stub. user:sci-fry2001

Japan?

Why is there no section for Japan? I know for a fact Esso is in Japan; my girlfriend's great grandfather (who lived in Japan) was the president of Esso Asia or whatever it was called; he had close ties to rockefeller. Corporate name

The official corporate name is Exxon Mobil Corporation, with the space between Exxon and Mobil.[See corporate website. When used standalone, it is then ExxonMobil. — ERcheck (talk) 02:36, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
