Keith Peacock (born Barnehurst, 2 May 1945)[1] is an English former footballer and manager.

Playing career

Peacock played his entire professional career for Charlton Athletic, making over 500 Football League appearances between 1962 and 1979.[2] On August 21 1965, while playing for Charlton, he became the first substitute ever to be used in the Football League when he replaced injured goalkeeper Mike Rose after 11 minutes of an away match against Bolton Wanderers.[3]

Managerial career

Peacock was manager of Gillingham between 1981 and 1987 and later served as assistant manager at Charlton Athletic before stepping down after the resignation of Alan Curbishley. He worked as a scout for West Ham United before being appointed assistant manager in October 2006 following the appointment of Peter Grant, the former assistant, as manager of Norwich City.

On 29 June 2007 it was announced that Peacock would be leaving his role at West Ham United as assistant manager to spend more time with his family.[4]

Personal life

Peacock's son Gavin also became a professional footballer.
