Stone Cold Steve Austin Triple H

The Power Trip is the tag team of Stone Cold Steve Austin & Triple H.

Career

On April 1, 2001 at WrestleMania 17, Austin took on The Rock for the WWF Title. During the match, Mr. McMahon interfered, which eventually led to Austin barbarically dismantling The Rock with a steel chair to win the WWF Championship and in the process aligning himself with his long-time enemy. The next night, in a rematch between the Rock and Stone Cold (this time in a Steel Cage Match), Triple H entered the cage with his sledgehammerm and, along with Stone Cold, 'destroyed' The Rock. Stone Cold showed a new, more vicious side to him as he would attack wrestlers like The Undertaker, Kane, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy and even Lita with the steel chair. At Backlash, The Power Trip beat the Brothers of Destruction for the WWF Tag Team Titles, thus making them the "Golden team" (Stone Cold also had the WWF Title & Triple H also had the Intercontinential Title). At Judgment Day, Austin accidentally hit Triple H with the WWF Title during his Chain match with Kane, causing Triple H to lose the belt. But Triple H did not return the favor, instead he helped Stone Cold retain his title against the Undertaker. The next night on Raw, The Power Trip faced Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho with the tag titles on the line. It was that match where Triple H suffered a legitimate and career-threatening injury when he misstepped causing him to suffer a tear in his left quadricep muscle. Despite his inability to place any weight on his leg, Triple H was able to complete the match, something that his fans and fellow wrestlers saw as an admirable display of dedication to the business. The match ended when Benoit tried to pin Stone Cold but Triple H got in the ring and tried to hit Benoit with the sledgehammer, but Benoit moved and the sledgehammer hit Austin in the chest, which led to Benoit and Jericho to win the titles. With Triple H out of the picture thanks to his injury, Austin and McMahon continued, until Austin portrayed McMahon at WWE Invasion when he caused Team WWF to lose to The Alliance.
