"Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" is a short story in The Jungle Book (1894) by Rudyard Kipling. It deals with an English family in India who discover a wounded mongoose and decide to keep it. The mongoose, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, soon finds himself confronted by two cobras, Nag and Nagaina, who have plans to kill Rikki's new family. The story is a favorite of Kipling fans and is notable for its frightening and serious tone.

An animated version released in 1975 was directed by Chuck Jones and narrated by Orson Welles.
