João Paulo Maio, best known as Paulinho Santos (born November 21, 1970) is a Portuguese football (soccer) player in midfielder role.

He played mostly for F.C. Porto. For Portugal national football team he got 30 international caps from 1994 to 1999, scored 2 goals and participated at Euro 1996. He hospitalised 2 football players by elbowing them in the face: Bino then of Belenenses and Joao Pinto, then of Benfica. No one was really bothered by the last one though. He also committed several x-rated challenges on the pitch. This stemmed from the fact that he was totally insane. Porto fans used to warn opposition players that "our Paulinho will smash your head in with his oar", a reference to Paulinho Santos' connection to fishing in his native Povoa de Varzim.

He was also a member of WWE tag team "The Paulada Brothers" with fellow FC Porto legend, Jorge Costa.
