Template:Japanese name Takeshi Okumura (奥村 健, Okumura Takeshi) (b. April 24, 1952) is a Japanese professional pool player. He was the first WPA World Nine-ball Champion from Japan (the second and only other being Takahashi Kunihiko).

Professional Career

Okumura's early moments of dominance started when he won the WPA World Nine Ball Championship in 1994. Until Nick Varner won the title in 1999, Okumura was the oldest champion.

A year later, he almost won the International Challenge of Champions but Chao Fong-pang bested him in the last match. In 2000, he nearly won the US Open Nine Ball Championship but lost to Earl Strickland , 5-11, in the finals. He nearly had a shot for a second world title 2002 but again was defeated by Earl Strickland in the semis.

In 2005, Okumura showed what he was truly made of by defeating highly regarded players such as Efren Reyes, Yang Ching-shun and Mika Immonen to win the All Japan Championship.
