Main page error reports

To report an error you have noticed on the current main page or tomorrow's main page please add it to the appropriate section below. You can do this by pressing the [edit] button to the right of the appropriate section's heading. Also, please sign your post using four tildes (~~~~)

Note that the current date and time are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which may not coincide with your local time zone. The next day's featured article of the day, picture of the day, and anniversaries update at midnight (00:00) according to UTC. The current time is 05:53 on December 20, 2024 (UTC). (Update)

Once an error has been fixed, the error report will be removed from this page; please check the page's history to verify that the error has been rectified and for any other comments the administrator may have made. Lengthy discussions should not take place here. References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual error, and a suggested rewording is helpful with a stylistic complaint.

Errors in the summary of Today's featured article on the Main Page

  • Chad is divided into three major geographical regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the centre and a more fertile Sudanian savanna zone in the south.
The correct term is 'Sudanese', not 'Sudanian'.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.245.209 (talkcontribs)
As far as I can tell, "Sudanese" refers to the group of people and "Sudanian" refers to geographical regions. --- RockMFR 17:13, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in In the news

  • Officials from a UN-backed genocide tribunal detain Nuon Chea, the most senior surviving member of the Khmer Rouge regime under which up to three million Cambodians were killed or died due to mismanagement.
The odd unintended effect of having those two links next to each other, with the word tribunal unlinked, is to tie them together. "What UN-sponsored genocide?" we then find ourselves asking!! My recommendations: 1) just link "UN" to UN, not "UN-backed"; 2) find a link for tribunal to point at. Then the accidental association won't be as strong. Alternatively, link the whole phrase ("UN-backed genocide tribunal") to Khmer Rouge Tribunal, which is not currently linked from the blurb. Doops | talk 03:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My suggestion would be to keep the UN-backed link as is and link genocide tribunal to Khmer Rouge Tribunal. Nil Einne 17:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in Did you know?

For tomorrow's Jewish picture, a tallit is a prayer shawl, and several men in the picture are wearing the same uniform, therefore there is probably more than one tallit in the picture. If so the word "tallit" should either be "tallits" or some foreign plural - "tallitim"? If not it should be "a tallit". Similarly for kippot. Art LaPella 05:08, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kippot already is plural. I've changed tallit for you. (Tomorrow's picture, so not protected yet.) Doops | talk 12:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
