XML Professional Publisher (XPP) is a proprietary content management and publishing system which developed out of a proprietary typesetting system.

Described in its product literature as a “standards-based, high performance, content formatting and publishing application for the automatic composition, transformation, and rendering of XML content into high-quality output in PostScript and PDF format.” XPP can also format other fielded data, such as database feeds, SGML, HTML, and other ASCII text and with a skilled operator and carefully developed macros can achieve high-quality pages.

XPP supports many of the latest International Standards including SGML, XML, XSLT, XPath, XSL-FO and SVG. Fully supporting Unicode, in its new version 8, XPP can be found operating in many multilingual environments including all European and many World-Wide languages including Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

An XPP Web Services Development Kit provides full access to the automatic publishing ability of XPP through a standards-based API. Because the API is Web-based, XPP features can be used by anyone with a browser and a connection to the Internet.

XPP is used to produce a wide variety of publications including Technical Documentation, Scientific, Technical and Medical Journals (STM, such as Physical Review Letters or the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science), Directory, Dictionary and Legal loose-leaf publishing.
