Billington Heights is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in the Town of Elma in Erie County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 1,691.

Billington Heights lies near the border of the Town of Aurora, north of the Village of East Aurora.

Geography

Billington Heights is located at 42°47'9" North, 78°37'10" West (42.785709, -78.619419)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 8.1 km² (3.1 mi²). 8.1 km² (3.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,691 people, 664 households, and 515 families residing in the community. The population density is 208.6/km² (540.8/mi²). There are 684 housing units at an average density of 84.4/km² (218.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.58% White, 0.47% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.18% from two or more races. 0.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 664 households out of which 30.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.7% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.3% are non-families. 19.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 2.91.

In the area the population is spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 21.8% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 20.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.7 males.

The median income for a household in the area is $56,154, and the median income for a family is $66,250. Males have a median income of $42,750 versus $22,305 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $32,337. 2.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 3.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
