Australia

I have no idea what you are trying to do but youve just removed a section - I am about to revert your edit - please try sandbox exeriemtns before mucking around with major articles - thanks SatuSuro 05:53, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK you have reverted whatever you were doing - a very very good idea would be to create a sub page and work things out in there - otherwise you attracted unwanted harrassment if you do that to major articles SatuSuro 05:55, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never apologise - as long as you clean up after yourself :) - having just looked at wikipedia:sandbox i would not recommend using it - just take your time and youll get used to all the stuff - cheers SatuSuro 06:04, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea to get into practice of - signing messages, and putting edit summaries in - very good idea to start with that and it will help you cheers SatuSuro 06:09, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

U.S.-New Zealand/Australian relations

Hi. I've again reverted your major changes to the United States article. If you would read the rest of the section in which you wanted to introduce material, you would see that the level of detail on these particular relationships you were aiming at is completely inappropriate in context. The material is certainly worthy of inclusion on Wikipedia, just not in a general article on the United States. Note that there are several existing articles where the material you wish to include can find an appropriate home or, indeed, may already be covered: Foreign relations of the United States, Foreign relations of New Zealand, Foreign relations of Australia, and United States-Australia relations. In addition, you should feel free to initiate a new article titled either New Zealand-United States relations or United States-New Zealand relations. Best, Dan—DCGeist 06:24, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First off, comments to other users go on their discussion/Talk page--e.g., at the bottom of this page--not their main userpage. Second, I explained precisely how the material you wished to add was inappropriately detailed given the context of the article and section. I'll now expand on the point: To make your material fitting, discussions of U.S. relations with all of its other significant allies would have to be similarly inflated. That's clearly not appropriate for a general article on the United States. As I suggested, that's what the Foreign relations of the United States, the other nation-specific relations articles, and the particular bilateral relations articles are for. Third, my reversion of your edits was not "frivolous" at all--my message to you above is clear evidence of that. Fourth, you are new to Wikipedia: my "behavior," far from "quite out-of-the-ordinary," has been almost entirely ordinary; the only exceptional part is that I took the time and energy to give you a personal, specific explanation of what was going on and make some specific suggestions (which I see you've started taking advantage of--excellent). Fifth and last, I regret if you found my tone unpleasant, but once again, you are new to Wikipedia: allow me to predict that you'll soon stop worrying about other editors' "callousness" and start developing a suitably thick Wikiskin. It'll come in handy when you encounter the real arseholes. Best, D—DCGeist 07:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you figured it out. Don't know if you did it or not, but often the quickest way is like this: (1) click on the History tab on top of the page; (2) assuming you just made the mistake, click on the "Compare selected versions" tab above the chronological list of article versions that appears; (3) next to the "Current revision" that comes up on the right-hand side, click on "Undo"; (4) save page as you would any other. You've just reverted yourself (and learned the basic procedure for reverting anyone else's most-recent edit to an article--use prudently...). D—DCGeist 08:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick photo procedure

(1) In the Toolbox on the left-hand side of the page, click on "Upload file." (2) Click on the blue link in the first bulleted line: "It is entirely my own work." (3) You're on the Upload file page--follow the instructions and upload something. (4) Go to your userpage and click on the edit tab. (5) At the top of the page--or bottom, or wherever--add the photo. You can use this as a template (you'll need to edit this page in order to copy and paste the full formatting of it):

File:ReplaceThisWithYourPhotoFileName.jpg
ReplaceThisWithYourCaption

That final bit may take a couple tries--I used to regularly make minor errors with my image syntax that would botch the whole thing. —DCGeist 08:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of important tips

I noticed you changed the link to New Zealand-United States relations on WP:WPNZ. This article was listed as a wanted article, so replacing it with an existent article is not the best idea. Once the article has been created, it can be taken down. Second, if there is a red link to an existing article, like the one before you changed it, please create a redirect. WP:RDR will explain how to do this.

The other thing is images. Please upload them to Wikimedia Commons, not here. Commons accepts all free images, such as those released into the public domain or GDFLed. You'll have to create a separate account there, but it will only take a few shakes and then you can link to it from you user page here (and vice versa). Thanks, and let me know if you have any problems. Richard001 08:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to make you one if you like, if you can tell me your color preferences, and what links you'd like on it, it would be no problem at all. And lol do you want me to fix your userpage a bit so it is more customized for you, and not really a copy? Like, favorite colors, your own icons, pictures, etc? Or would you like a page layout that's original to you, I've done Jake's page and Eliz's page, for example. I'd be more than happy to give you a new page today if you like, one that reflects you and your color prefs, and if you really like the tabbed look that can stay in but with your own colors, and I can fix the issues I see you're having with it. Just let me know, ArielGold 11:47, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay! Let's get started. Do you have your heart set on the tab format, or would you like a simpler format like Jake's or Eliz's? Can we give you some different navbar icons (you said the hearts weren't your thing, so are you male? We can make the icons more masculine if you like, or more professional looking, just tell me what you think). Also we can make a gallery for your images you've done. I'll start working on it now, update me with answers, so I know which direction to take. ArielGold 12:01, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, let's make it more "you" and less "Ariel", lol. I'm pretty frilly girlie, lmao. I'll be working on it, so if you stop editing I can update without edit conflicts. I'm going to give you your own icons, and make you a navbar as well. What areas would you like, Talk page, Email (is it enabled, do you want that link on there?) Archives (do you have some?) etc. ArielGold 12:08, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are the images you listed ones you created/uploaded, or just interesting images you like? ArielGold 12:34, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you'll see it is really easy to add them to the gallery, I will include hidden instructions as well. Working on userboxes now, almost done. ArielGold 12:44, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question, I'm going through your image uploads, this image: Image:George W. Bush and Helen Clark meet at the White House.jpg .jpg First, did you take that picture yourself? Second, the name is wrong, as you may notice, as it has two .jpgs, lol. If that's your image, you might want to request an admin move it to dump the redundant file extension, lol. ArielGold 13:06, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another one, did you take this picture? Image:Prototype of RNZAF stealth plane.jpg, like are you an aviator who flies with stuff like this? Because that's just awesome if you are, lol. ArielGold 13:09, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Another one, did you take this photo? Image:Shipley2.jpg. ArielGold 13:10, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, please don't take this the wrong way, but you are going to have to go through the uploads you've done, and remove the permission saying you're the copyright holder. If you didn't take the pictures, and if you found them somewhere else, then the licensing info need to be changed. They risk deletion if you don't properly source them, stating where you found them, and give a proper rationale for use. For instance, the license says it is your own work, that you hold the copyright. Your "own work" means photographs you've taken, or graphic designs you created in a program like Illustrator. This doesn't apply to things like, if you're an artist, and you take a picture of a work of art, or statue, or you draw a picture of Charlie Brown or Snoopy, that's not an original work of art, so you can't own the copyright. (confusing, I know). If you don't remember or don't know where the image came from, see this page, and also licensing information, as well as free use. You'll need to specify a URL if possible for all images you upload, especially like this one: Image:George W. Bush and Helen Clark at a gala dinner.jpg, it states it is US gov, but you need to provide the URL of the page you got it from (source). This is just so you don't end up having many images deleted (which some of yours have been, I don't know why but I could find out if you want to know), but also to keep Wikipedia legally safe. Hope you understand and don't take this the wrong way! (And I'm almost done with the page) ArielGold 13:26, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Initial version

First version is up. Take a look, see what you like and don't like, and I'll get to work on a navbar. ArielGold 13:28, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look here and see if you like any of those styles, or images. ArielGold 13:30, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No thanks needed, it was my pleasure, and I am happy that you like it. Look over the other boxes/navbars and let me know what you like best, and we'll make your navbar from there. ArielGold 13:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I'll start working on the navbar. About the images, for example, Image:George W. Bush and Helen Clark at a gala dinner.jpg, go there, click to edit the Summary , and add "Source": and then place the URL of the page the picture is located. You should use that, rather than just the main page, if possible, to prove that's where you got the image. Same for all images. Hope that helps. For archiving, it is moving old messages out of your talk page, into a subpage to clean up your talk page if it gets too long. See Help:Archiving a talk page for more info, and I can set it up for an automatic bot to do it for you, if you'd like me to. ArielGold 14:01, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just updated the file to add the source I located it at, i took a look at the archiving page and, for want of a cliche, its all french to me (even though I speak french) so if you could help set up a bot to archive my files, that would be "magnifique"! (Murchy 14:09, 19 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]
You added the source fine, so it worked great. Also, you don't have email enabled: This user has not specified a valid e-mail address, or has chosen not to receive e-mail from other users. You can set that in "my preferences" at the top. I've done the navbar, and I'm adding it now. ArielGold 14:10, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I'll redo your sig in a minute so it links to both your talk page and userpage if you want, and it is missing the closing parentheses, if you want, that is. Working on your travel page now. Almost done. ArielGold 14:19, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sig

Okay if you like this:

(♠Murchy♠)

Copy this code to your sig in "my preferences" (making sure the "raw" box is checked)

<font color="0095B6">(♠</font><font color="1C39BB">Mur</font><font color="1560BD">chy</font><font color="0095B6">♠)</font>

Also, do you want the image gallery and userboxes in both subpages and on main page, or would you like me to remove them from the userpage, and just have the navbar that has the links? ArielGold 14:32, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, if you could remove from main page so it can look clean and link them to the Navbar for me, that would be superduper!:P lol, havent said that in a while.... Yes, I like that signature a lot, ive just saved it as a preference, and ill just use it now to see if it works, thanks a bunch. ([[Special:Contributions/Murchy|<font color="0095B6">(♠</font><font color="1C39BB">Mur</font><font color="1560BD">chy</font><font color="0095B6">♠)</font>]] 14:36, 19 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

SUCCESS!! ((♠Murchy♠) 14:38, 19 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Looks excellent! Not too obtrusive, but helpful as it links to contribs, userpage, and talk page. Nice! I have finished all the subpages, take a look at them, and the userpage please, and let me know if there is anything you'd like changed. I am glad you like it! ArielGold 14:58, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it looks like you have one too many opening parentheses. Sign here again so I can double check the sig code? Be sure in your sig in my preferences, the very first character on the line is not a ( ArielGold 14:59, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image

I'll get that image up soon, I promise. I've got something to take care of first, but then I'll take care of that. ArielGold 15:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done, I put it in a thumbnail box in the first box, because I think that would be easier for you to see to change it. I have added invisible comments to show you, they look like this: <!--MURCHY: Image goes here--> So you can look for those, and see where the image is. Holler if you need help replacing it next week. ArielGold 15:35, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on my talk page

But I'll add it here in case you don't look there, of course I remember you, lol. (I may be "old" but I'm not yet senile, lol) What's up? I'm happy to help if I can. ArielGold 12:55, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pavlova

Hi Murchy. I have edited your addition to Pavlova re the NZI ad. In particular I removed the contention that in NZ, ad content must be true. Remember Scotty and Crumpy flying off the cliff in their 4WD and down, down, down thousands of feet into the gully, (with dog following later)? Such humorous advertising is allowed. No-one really believes the ad was intended to convey to people that a 4WD could perform such an act, although there might be a few boy racers who could think so! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moriori (talkcontribs) 21:54, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
