Barefoot running
Appearance
Barefoot running is gaining a following on the fringe of the larger jogging community. Hardcore "barefooters" prefer hard surfaces to softer terrain (e.g., grass, beaches); a few even venture off road. [1]
Heading up the effort is the barefoot running guru Ken Saxton, a barefoot marathoner from California, who maintains barefootrunning.org. and moderates the Running Barefoot group on Yahoo!.
Prominent Barefooters
Barefoot elites include Zola Budd and former Olympic marathon world-record holders Abebe Bikila and Tegla Loroupe.
