Beware of the Purple Peanut Butter is the 6th book in the spin-off series Give Yourself Goosebumps. It was released in June of 1996 on Scholastic Press. This book is different from the other books in the series because it has unique mini-games such as coin flipping and choices dependent on time of week or age of the reader.
Plot
The plot of the book is simple. You are off to spend the summer with your cousins Barney and Dora. Barney loves to bully you and Dora is the typical annoying little cousin. The house is pretty much free to roam but there is one restriction: you cannot go into the basement. When you ask why, your aunt tells you that they just moved in, and the previous owners were very strange. Being a kid, you go on down. In the basement there is a refrigerator that holds a jar of a purple substance (that smells like peanut butter) and a box of some chocolate cake. The purple peanut butter will make you smaller, smaller, until you disappear and the cake will make you growing without stopping, like Monster Blood. The reader chooses which one to pick. Then the reader makes choices to find the ending.
