WikiProject Mexico

Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organise information in articles related to Mexico. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page.

For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

Scope

The WikiProject on Mexico is intended as a central focal point for editors active on Mexico-related articles, placing particular emphasis on standardising terminology and translations and on establishing country-wide strategies for structuring articles, categories, etc.

General strategy and discussion forums

  • /Terminology: Discussion forum for terminology and translation issues. For example: ministers or secretaries? Federal deputies or congressmen? ¿El jefe delegacional en Álvaro Obregón?
  • /Strategy: Strategy and structure. For policy discussions on how to title articles, how to categorise, etc.
  • /Community: Noticeboard for editors interested in Mexican articles. Basically, a community forum: use it to list articles you'd like other participants to take a look at or get a second opinion on, call attention to content disputes, post alerts, or advertise your willingness to meet up in (e.g.) Acapulco next month.

Terminology and strategy issues that have been decided on can be listed in the following sections for ease of reference.

Terminology consensus

Cámara de Diputados

The Cámara de Diputados is best translated as Chamber of Deputies. The article is at Chamber of Deputies of Mexico. See related discussion on Talk:Chamber of Deputies.

Strategy consensus

State names

All 31 Mexican states are located at (e.g.) [[Statename]]. See earlier discussion at Talk:States of Mexico.
