St. Catherine University
The College of St. Catherine is a private women's Catholic college located in both St. Paul, Minnesota and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Enrollment is currently around 4700 students. It is the largest Catholic women's college in the country.
The St. Paul campus of the College of St. Catherine was founded in 1905 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. It was named for Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The Minneapolis campus was founded in 1887 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet as St. Mary's School of Nursing. It was renamed St. Mary's Junior College and then merged with the College of St. Catherine in 1986.
The College of St. Catherine is a NCAA Division III school that is part of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The sport teams nickname is Wildcats.
