misconception

So add it.

The new testament states: Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six." (Revelation 13:16-18 RSV)

People placed far more importance in milenium years rather than in 666 years. Although in this year the roman empire had already fallen and christianity was just spreading, the bible wasnt exactly in its current form and to read the bible you had to be either within the church or have learned to read (in latin or greek), 2 things that very few people did for the time (in comparisson of the great iliterate mass).

The Greek interpretation reads "In the hand and in the forehead" referring to works and thoughts.

Please add the roman numeral, I would but I cant.
