The TX-2000 series (TX-2000系電車, TX-2000 kei densha) is an EMU which operates on the Tsukuba Express. A total of 96 cars were purchased.

The first 6-car prototype was built in March 2003, and subsequently between January 2004 and July 2004, 15 more sets were manufactured by Hitachi, Ltd.

The train is capable of operating in both DC and AC modes, and is therefore capable of running the full length of the Tsukuba Express. Its DC-only counterpart, the TX-1000 series, can only operate on the Akihabara – Moriya section of the line. The middle two cars feature transverse seating bays for passengers on longer journeys.
