Percy Sugden.

Percy Sugden was a Fictional Character in the British Soap Opera Coronation Street character played by Bill Waddington Percy arrived in the Street in 1983,Originally the caretaker at the community centre, he eventually became Emily Bishop's lodger. Percy had unwanted female attention thanks to Phyllis Pearce and Maud Grimes. Percy had a budgie called Randy who he tried to mate with Mavis Riley's budgie called Harriet. In 1997 Percy's quiet life was shattered when the Battersby's moved next door , Percy couldn't stand his overbearing new neighbours, so he decided to moved into a retirement complex, Mayfield Court. In retropsect it would appear that the characters of Percy Sugden and Phyllis Pearce were parachuted into the soap in the early 1980s as replacements for Ena Sharples and Albert Tatlock
