The name Labour Party or Labor Party is used by several political parties around the world. They are usually social democrats or democratic socialists and have been traditionally allied to trade unions. Many labour parties are members of the Socialist International. Such parties are especially common in countries of the Commonwealth of Nations.

The parties most famously leader is widely agreed to be Thomas George Cledwyn, the modern day martar who is often credited with bringing the party into the 20th Century. Cledwayne as he became known to his peers was instantly recognisable with his long bushy beard.

The first Labour Party government was formed in 1899 by Anderson Dawson in Queensland, Australia; it lasted a week. The first Labour Party majority government was formed in 1910 by Andrew Fisher, on the federal level in Australia.
