Trudy Joplin

Trudy Joplin is a fictional police officer in the show Miami Vice who was portrayed by Olivia Brown in the show and Naomie Harris in the 2006 motion picture.

Miami: 1984-1989

Joplin was a detective for the vice squad in Miami, Florida and worked with her partner Gina Calabrese all those years. Trudy was acted as a person who had a passion for her work but also held a strong relationship with her workmates.

Trudy experienced her first breakdown during the second season when she had to shoot somone to save Sonny Crockett after the suspect was chased to a dead end street. Crockett told her she did the right thing and no matter what the investigators said, she had to keep thinking clearly and not to second guess the situation.

Trudy's most bizarre moment on the entire show was when she apparently had an encounter with aliens while out at night in season 4.

Trudy has had some close calls while on the job also; earlier in the series she posed as Tubbs' wife but was kidnapped and rigged with a bomb: luckily she was rescued from the incident. Joplin also seemed to care deeply for when Crockett was gunned down during season 4. As he lay in his hospital bed, she leaned over and kissed his forehead, giving a small hint that she might have had feelings for him throughout the show.
