"The Maze (Miami Vice)"

"The Maze" is the seventeenth episode of Miami Vice's first season.

Plot

When a gang of small delinquents kill a police officer, they suddenly become the target of the entire Miami police system. Crockett and Tubbs learn from an informant (Adolfo Quinones) that the gang is hiding in a derelict low rent building called "the Maze", where they can hide in many places and take the tenants as hostages.

Tubbs is sent undercover into the Maze, disguised as a Jamaican musician who just arrived in Miami. When the situation goes wrong, Tubbs is taken hostage with the tenants, including a Haitian brother and sister (Ving Rhames and Garcelle Beauvais)

At the end, the SWAT team intervenes and the gang members are either killed or arrested.

Notes

Garcelle Beauvais also took part in the episode Give a Little, Take a Little in a smaller role, as a waiter.

Lyrics

"I lived the live of Solomon
Sailed the seven seas
Carried the Cross of Jesus
Prayed in Gethsemane
Touched the shores of China
Covered Ethiopia
Started revolution in Europe
Without knowing what i did it for
Living the book of my live

Different stages
Living the book of
Living the book of
I've worked the diamond mines in Ghana
Drilled oil in Arabia
Planted sugarcane in Jamaica

Living the book of my live
Living the book of
Living the book of
Living the book of my live"
