Anne Ottenbrite-Muylaert (born May 12, 1966 in Bowmanville, Ontario) is a former breaststroke swimmer from Canada, who competed for her native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. There she won three medals: gold (200m Breaststroke), silver (100m Breaststroke), and bronze (4x100 m medley relay). In the last event she was accompanied by Reema Abdo, Michelle MacPherson, and Pamela Rai.
Anne Ottenbrite-Muylaert has been coaching for 15 years.
After winning gold, silver and bronze medals at the 1984 Olympic Games, Anne attended the University of Southern California and Wilfrid Laurier University.
She started her coaching career as the Head Coach for Wilfrid Laurier University’s varsity swim team.
Anne traveled to Zimbabwe to promote the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) at the 1991 Prime minister’s Conference.
Anne then moved to the University of Guelph to become Co-Head Coach for the varsity team, as well as Head Age Group Coach for the Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club. While working in Guelph, Anne traveled with the 1994 Commonwealth Team as an Honorary Team Captain, and then worked with the 1995 Pan-Pac team as a Team Manager.
Anne joined of the Burlington Aquatic Devil Rays, as Head Coach, for two years. She then moved to Wisconsin and joined the coaching staff at the University of Wisconsin.
In 2003 Anne returned home to the Durham region, where she had grown up and swam for most of her swimming career.
Anne is very pleased to join the coaching staff at the Pickering swim club. Her main motivation as a coach is to help young athletes understand how to goal set and empower themselves to be the best they can be. As well as learning to use these tools for the rest of their lives.She is an amazing coach. Anne has 2 children. And commutes from Peterbrough to coach in pickering. She is a amazing woman and the best coach i have ever had. anne is presently a coach on the pickering swim team.
