Jack Hemingway, the first son of American writer Ernest Hemingway was born on October 10, 1923 in Toronto, Canada. He is also the father of actresses Margaux and Mariel Hemingway.

He was born John Hadley Nicanor Hemingway on October 10, 1923. Nicknamed "Bumby", Jack spent his early years in Paris and the Austrian Alps. These years are described in A Moveable Feast, Hemingway's autobiography, published in 1964. Jack Hemingway helped finished his father's autobiography and it was published three years after Ernest's death. Throughout his life, he was an avid fly fisherman. He served in World War II as a member of the OSS working specifically with the French resistance. He also wrote his own autobiography titled "Misadventures of a Fly Fisherman: My life with and without Papa". He died on December 1, 2000 at the age of 77.
