Irony

That guy that you stuck a sock tag is giving hassle over at the Def Lep. article! ScarianTalk 19:59, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That guy may also be User:Rock Soldier BTW. The IP edits and RS's edits almost mirror one another. RS is a busy contributor but sometimes forgets which "ego" he is. As long as he edits without interjecting person genre POV or image vios he tows the line... but occasionally he goes into "band member" mode and it sort of solidifies who the puppet master is. Alterego269 is permanently blocked. If a WP:SSP was done on the 2 of them and it proved they were one in the same... Rock Soldier would be gone too. His "good" outweighs his "bad" so I just make sure I check all of his edits to see that he isn't going to far into "alterego" territory.
PS watch out for the Elfoid trying to POV the infobox on the AC/DC article. I personally don't see the band as heavy metal but... it's referenced in the article lead-in so personal POVs... mine or Elfoid's don't matter a hill o' beans. Citations win POV loses. 156.34.224.2 (talk) 20:06, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[1] - Edits like that seem like pure POV. I would've rv'd it and started off the long process of arguing why he should discuss and gain a consensus before changing... but then I remembered that it's sunday... the universal day of Wiki-rest. :-D ScarianTalk 23:44, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was a quick rv.... power ballad isn't a genre. It's a genre field so no other styles or commentaries are allowed in there. RS knows that... he's been told before. But, he tends to forget when it doesn't agree with his pov. 156.34.224.2 (talk) 23:59, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

User:Grungebandnirvana - Are users allowed to have article pages in their user pages? He made an article about his band before and it got speedied... Is it a case of "leave him be he's not hurting anyone"? ScarianTalk 11:53, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well... Mezmerizer has a subpage off of his userpage for his band that got speedied. Look at WP:USERPAGE. I actuallt think that you can't advertise on your userpage. But I'm not sure. I am in transit to work so I will be around later on today. 156.34.224.2 (talk) 12:22, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your message

"Be careful not to vandalise cited text to match your personal POV and alter the meaning away from what the reference is actually saying."

Given their genre is under debate, I felt it better to addapt the text so it wasn't leaning too strongly in any particular direction where possible. It was not vandalism.

"The AC/DC reference meets all Wikipedia criteria for verification and citation."

And the last three books I read on music that mentioned AC/DC said they're not heavy metal. We can't call them such.

"Please do not change it to suit your personal opinions. Wikipedia content is built on verifiable references. If you have a personal opinion... it has no place. here."

It was not based on my personal opinion. I'm a self-confessed Michael Jackson fan who thinks he's innocent of all crimes. But check the talk page, I frequently speak negatively about the man because sometimes you have to show two sides to an argument.

"If you alter cited text again you will be reported to an Administrator which could result in a possible block from editing."

I didn't alter cited text. I stated AC/DC were highly influential, and it was linked to a reference that suggested exactly the same thing. It was slightly re-worded to make it clearer, is all.

Don't tell why I do what I do until you check with me in future. To refer to me as a Wikipedia vandal is an insult I refuse to take from anyone who knows nothing about me.(The Elfoid (talk) 11:44, 20 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Infact, I just checked your damned source. It states the band were pioneers of the SOUND of hard rock and heavy metal. It does not specify them as pioneers OF heavy metal itself. They sound as heavy as a lot of metal bands, so that's a fair comment. But I'd not refer to them as actually being heavy metal. PResently, the source is already mis-cited!
