CIA officer of Muslim Syrian-Lebanese origin who was recruited into the CIA from the FBI and convicted of improperly using FBI computers for obtaining sensitive information about both herself and her family. Prouty admitted that she searched FBI files for information on investigations of Hizballah—although, according to her plea agreement, she “was not assigned to work on Hezbollah cases as part of her F.B.I. duties and she was not authorized by her supervisor, the case agent assigned to the case, or anybody else to access information about the investigation in question.”

She was also convicted of naturalization fraud, for paying a man to marry her so she could get U.S. citizenship, and lying about her background in applying for jobs at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Central Intelligence Agency.[1]

Prouty's family is also reported to have links to the Syrian Nazi Party. [2]
