Dialog Telekom, Sri Lanka's flagship Telecommunications Company operates Dialog GSM, the country's largest mobile phone network. Dialog is a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia International BhD and is the largest company in terms of Market Capitalisation in the Colombo Stock Exchange (approx USD 1.73 Billion as of 31 March 2007) representing 21.7 per cent of the market value of the Colombo Stock Exchange. The company is also a key player in the Internet Service Provision Market with its state of the art ISP, Dialog Internet, and also operates Dialog SAT, the country's pioneer Mobile Satellite Service Provider. Furthermore, having made an aggressive entry in to the International Services Market, Dialog Global has established itself as a premier provider of International Services in Sri Lanka.

Dialog Telekom is a Flagship investor under the aegis of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and has invested over USD500Mn towards the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Sri Lanka.

Dialog Telekom is the official partner for Sri Lanka of the Vodafone mobile community

GSM Mobile Core Business

Dialog GSM has spearheaded the mobile industry in Sri Lanka since mid-90's propelling it to a level of technology on par with the developed world. The company operates a 3.5G GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA network, supporting the very latest in multimedia and mobile Internet services, and also provides International Roaming facilities in over 190 countries. Dialog GSM is the country's largest cellular network providing services to over 3.5Mn customers across all provinces of the island, accounting for approx 60% share of the countries mobile sector and 45% of total telecommunications subscribers. The company is also the South Asia's 1st commercial 3G operator.

Supplementary Businesses

Dialog Telekom has ventured into two main supplementary telecommunications related businesses based on licenses acquired from the GoSL.

Internet Business

Dialog Internet was launched in 2001 with the primary intention of developing the IP infrastructure required for leadership in a convergent environment. While this objective has been achieved manifold, the company has also established a retail ISP – Dialog I which currently provides services to over 6,000 subscribers.

International Business

Dialog has been quick to capitalize on the liberalization of the International Telecommunications Sector in Sri Lanka. The International services of the company now include retail and wholesale voice services and IPLC services. Building on a rapid role out of services and global partnerships, International Services now account for 10% of the company’s PAT.

Asset Media is a subsidiary of Dialog Telekom Ltd., and is licensed by the Ministry of Media to provide Television Broadcasting services, delivery of Pay Television and Cable Television Services and the operation of a Television broadcasting station.

Dialog TV is a Direct to Home Satellite Television Service operated by Asset Media, a subsidiary of Dialog Telekom Limited. Dialog TV features world class entertainment and the widest spectrum of channels with a special focus on News, Entertainment and Knowledge based programming. It supports a broad array of International content including CNN, BBC, HBO, Cinemax, AXN, ESPN, Discovery Channel, MTV and Cartoon Network, in addition to a wide portfolio of Sri Lankan television channels. Dialog Satellite TV uses state of the art Digital Video Broadcasting through Satellite (DVB-S) technology, and aims to be a trend-setter in Digital Satellite Television Broadcasting in Sri Lanka.

Dialog Broadband Networks, a fully owned subsidiary of Dialog Telekom PLC, is the pioneer WiMAX service provider and a key player in Sri Lanka’s ICT infrastructure sector, providing backbone and transmission infrastructure facilities and data communication services.

It recently commenced the provision of fixed wireless telephony services, with the launch of Dialog CDMA. The Dialog CDMA coverage is expanding through the country.
