Talk:Skate (2007 video game)
Following Based on Wikipedia's Manual of Style regarding trademarks, while the game may be marketed as "skate.", consensus has determined that the article should be called "Skate (video game)" (the disambiguation is necessary), and the game itself called "Skate" within the article save for mention of how it's marketed. Please do not move this page from this location without discussing the move first barring any further necessary disambiguation renaming. |
Random Pre-release conjecture
Does anyone know who the last skater will be? He (or she??) will probably be revealed in the final trailer. Or Theyre counting Big Black as a skater. What do you think?
I doubt it's P-Rod, theres no way hes going to be in both games.
I hear that its likely this game wont come out until Q4 2007. Apparently the game is still in development. Here is a link http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/skate/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-33237595&pid=935644
This is what was said.
Jan 24, 2007 10:52 am PT I just spent half an hour talking to tech support for EA canada and they themselves spoke to PR reps of EA Blackbox while I was on hold. ALL OF THE RELEASE DATES MENTIONED ONLINE ARE RUMORS. THE GAME IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT AND IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE ANY RELEASE DATE IS CONFIRMED. This means a Q4 of 2007 release is highly realistic. Yes this sucks, but we need to just chill and wait. They are putting a lot of time into this game to make it as good as it can be. Call tech support yourselves if you want, but this is what they will tell you.
Game Engine
Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of Skate.? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 14:39, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Refrences?
Where did the refrences go? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.205.240.202 (talk) 16:28, 8 February 2007 (UTC).
P-rod?
Are we sure that P-rod is in the game? It's not likely due to the fact that he was in the THp8 Game. He probably signed a contract? anyone have any real evidence? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.205.212.183 (talk) 21:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC).

Graham Bickerstaff and Antwuan Dixon?
Are they in it? Someone cite this. I hope its not some jackass vandalizing —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.54.97.142 (talk) 03:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC).
I sure hope they're in the game. Antwuan has one of the best styles. Yeah they cool like that ya'll. Juggling rules and so does baseball and sk8in.

Rename to Skate (Video Game)?
Seems like the box art says skate. but pretty much everyone that mentions the game in prose or as a title calls it skate, Skate or SKATE exclusively (no period). This includes EA (the game's publisher) and the official website of the game: [1]. See also, IGN, GameSpy, and GameStop. To further complicate things, xbox.com calls it skate.: [2]. Seems like the common convention is not to name it with the period, so this page should be moved. Thoughts? Oren0 17:28, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
the name of the game is "skate.". Nobody is going to say "Yeah, we're developing this awesome game, its called skate dot." They're just going to say "skate". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.25.115.99 (talk) 04:05, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks) would necessitate this article be moved to Skate (video game) and all occurences of the game's name in the article should appear as Skate, without decorative punctuation, and with a capital initial letter, as it is a proper noun. - This page has been moved at least twice. We need to settle on something, and I'm still in favor of Stake (video game). Oren0 07:25, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Since there was no further comment on this issue, I have moved the article and edited it to comply with MOS:TM. Nohat 07:56, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
the name of this page should be skate., this is how it is on the box and throughout the manual it is reffered as skate.. I would also like to point out that the skate. website also writes it skate. here, take note on the Game facts section it is actualy wrote as skate without the period. Therefore this articles name of Skate is, I belive, wrong.212.50.191.54 14:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
New Box Art
Here's a new box art for this game with an updated ESRB rating from Amazon:

Soundtrack
The soundtrack has been changed since it was originally announced. It has removed "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors and now features a more mixed soundtrack with a heavier emphasis on Hip Hop and even Dance. There are now remixes of some songs, like "Lounge Act" by Nirvana. The tracklist on this page is relevant to the final release- http://www.ea.com/skate/music.jsp
Personally, I think it's the worst decision EA made about the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87th (talk • contribs) 23:58, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Lost Reference
I was wondering if it were appropriate to put in a trivia section that the loading screen has the number 4, 8, 15, and 16 all in order. I know we shouldn't do it unless there was proof that it was an intentional reference and I wouldn't know where to go for that. Any thoughts?--Johnnyreb 14:29, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
