Finlay Ballantyne Speedie (born 18 August 1880 in Dumbarton). He was versatile forward, at home mostly on the left side however.

Speedie began his career with his local club Dumbarton but joined [[Rangers F.C.|Rangers in 1900. Playing under William Wilton he won two League championship's, one Scottish Cup, two Glasgow Cup, one Charity Cup and 1 glasgow international exhibtion cup.

However it was after joining Rangers in the autumn of 1900 that he came to prominence winning league championship medals in his first two seasons and the Scottish Cup the year after that.


In 1906 he moved to Newcastle and immediately stepped into another league winning team in the 1906/07 season. However he only lasted two years on Tyneside and went to Oldham in 1908 to Bradford City in 1909 and back to Dumbarton later that year. He had five good years at Boghead winning a final league medal in 1911 for the Second Division championship and retired in 1914.

During the First World War he served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and was awarded the Military Medal. He maintained his links with Dumbarton and coached the team in the 1930s.

Speedie died on the 5 February 1953, aged 72.
