Requesting Some Assistance, please
{{helpme}}
If you notice at the top of this page, you will see I have the time/date at the top. Is it possible to change it so the time always appears in Eastern Standard Time (that will be the time in Washington DC, New York City, etc)? I live in EST, so I would like that time to be in EST. If that is possible, please let me know how. Thanks. - NeutralHomer T:C 00:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I think so, let me look at it for a second, you also might want to go into your personal preferences and be sure you have it set to Eastern time. Ariel♥Gold 00:19, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I had my preferences set to EST, but I just set them back an hour :) It was the only thing I forgot to set back :) - NeutralHomer T:C 00:28, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, {{CURRENTDAY}} is based on UTC. {{LOCALTIME}} is based on the Wikipedia server time (which is also UTC). I'd think there should be a way to add a parameter to it so you could set it to your own offset, still checking. Ariel♥Gold 00:36, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Doesn't seem there is a way to do that. Strange. I can, however, move the section up so it isn't overlapping your talk page rules box if you want (and the red banner on your userpage), the header bleeds into those two items. After I've had a good night's rest, I'll see if I can't find a way to force a local time display for you, if you wish. Ariel♥Gold 00:42, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

WXXS, WLTN-AM, WLTN-FM Updates Appreciated
76.118.247.91 21:35, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
I just want to give thanks to you for giving my three Wikipedia pages their much needed overhauls. Yes, much information has been omitted but I'm happy that those articles are now less subjective and more informative. I mean, hey, perhaps some other people will come along and include some facts about those stations that I never knew myself. Although the two FM stations are my favorite radio stations, I'm sure there are people out there who know more about the stations than myself. I just wanted to assert that the playlists on WXXS and WLTN FM are more diverse than their corporate competitors, but I wasn't able to find any conclusive evidence online to proved that claim. Even though it's true that their playlists are very extensive (in comparison to tight, post-1996 corporate radio) I couldn't find any proof other than tuning in myself...and that's just not good enough. For one thing, the very fact that neither of these stations have websites didn't help me any in my gathering of information on that claim. The only way these articles can be extended in length is if a.) Websites are established or b.) staff and/or ownership were to include such information themselves. It seems to me that a is a more realistic accomplishment than is b.
Re:Hello
Hi! I'm really sorry about that. I'm a major punctuation stickler and I wasn't in the best of moods. If you see Quotation mark, it is never listed to include them around any type of award or title, as Person of the Year is. I hope you understand. Happy editing! Another Dingbat2007 sockpuppet - can you help?
I've been dogging another Dingbat sock, Rebafan4, and have requested a block, but the admins haven't acted yet, and I need to sign off now - can you check up on him? I'm also sending this to Azumanga. Thanks. dhett (talk • contribs) 00:53, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind; they just blocked him. Thanks anyway. dhett (talk • contribs) 00:59, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Hahaha yeah I noticed that. I just removed my report so it should be fine. You got there faster than me ;-).

"bicenquinquagenary"
That's quite a word. BTW, I always mix them up too, but the rule is that "its" is possessive, while "it's" is a contraction of "it is". So Stephens City will soon celebrate its bicenquinquagenary, a history of which it's very proud. (I almost always write the wrong one and have to go back and fix it). ·:· Will Beback ·:· 05:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Also, you don't need to add a comma in dates. The system adds it automatically. So May 1 2000 and May 1, 2000 appear the same. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 05:30, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Can you have try to get through to User:Rtphokie, as he seems to be completely ignoring me. He seems to be mass creating articles based on links in the market area templates. As these templates OFTEN seem to have incorrectly listed callsigns, he's making articles in the wrong place a little too often. For instance, I have just moved KWIP (AM), KWBY (AM), KSZN (AM), KPAM (AM), KMUZ (AM), KKPZ (AM), and KGDD (AM) because they were all unnecessarily disambiguated with " (AM)". Thanks. ANI RVV's
Hi Neutralhomer. You beat me to reverting ANI. I noticed that User:83.227.12.11 is leaving misleading messages for another admin about the situation, so I thought I'd let you know. (Signing with a different IP, etc). I'm not sure exactly what the point of the message is, but it doesn't seem to be building an encyclopedia. Cheers, --Bfigura (talk) 06:54, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds like sage advice. Back to building an encyclopedia then... or sleep, whichever seems more fun. Cheers, --Bfigura (talk) 07:00, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Need help
That guy JPG-GR is back editing the list of radio stations in Rhode Island removing 2 of them because they don't meet HIS standards. Additionally, another article is getting screwed with (Avon Park, Florida) due to an editor not wanting callsigns to have suffixes & just their 4-letter bases even though in some cases, they have no real 4-letter base (all -LP stations MUST use that suffix). Are they VANDALIZING the pages to suit what they WANT (ignoring facts) or are they not vandals but the pages need to have some sort of moderator. If it's the latter, how do I get a moderator? Thanks!Stereorock 01:41, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for all your help! Those pages have stayed clean the past couple of days! Anyway, hope you have a good weekend!Stereorock (talk) 16:43, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Good to Hear...
... that you still intend to work on the state lists. Your lack of edits recently made me wonder if you'd abandoned the project (at large) or if you were just overly occupied in real life. Trust me, I know how the latter feels a little too well a little too often. Hope to see you back in full force soon, as owners/formats give me a frickin' headache. Problem is... I don't know what my next WP:WPRS task shall be now that the lists are created. Hmm... JPG-GR 04:22, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
WLRT/WXTG
Hi This Is Bbabybear02 and I have a question about why you have WXTG-FM and WLRT-AM on Different Pages. I tried to put them on the same page but you keep putting them back. I want to know why you are doing that? Thank you.Bbabybear02 01:00, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
One More Question
Hi again thank you for the last question I looked on VARTV and it said the same thing so thank you for that but I have one more question. Their is a second tower for WAZP 90.7 FM on 96.9 FM. can I put the Details on The K-Love page or do i give them to you and you put them on the page? Thanks again!!!.P.S I Live in Virginia Beach So I was putting the stuff in from what i knew sry.Bbabybear02 01:14, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Commons question
I have uploaded several images I took of my hometown of Stephens City, Virginia for the town's article. I was wondering on how I can get these images uploaded/saved on Commons. I am not knowledgable on the rules of Commons, so if you could help, I would greatly apperciate it. The images in question located here. Thanks and Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 06:09, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hello! All that you need to do is register a Commons account and upload the images under the identical names. You'll be asked to specify the licensing, and you should select "Own work, all rights released (Public domain)."
- After you've done that, I'll delete the images here (allowing the Commons versions to be displayed).
- If you have any problems or other questions, just let me know. :-) —David Levy 06:28, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hello, many thanks for letting me know how to upload those. I just finished uploading them into Commons and I will let you do what you have to on this end. Many thanks....NeutralHomer T:C 06:47, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hello again! You need to add a license tag to Image:StephensCity LimeQuarry.JPG. Also note that because you've released these photographs into the public domain, you should be tagging them as {{PD-self}} instead of {{self|GFDL|cc-by-3.0}}. Thanks!
- I retagged them. I thought if they were tagged with GFDL and CC3.0 maybe they would be more "important" and less likely to get deleted. Problem after I retagged them with {{PD-self}} is they all show up as "orphan" in my gallery. Did I do something wrong? - NeutralHomer T:C 07:09, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- An image released under a Commons-compatible license is no more or less likely to be deleted than one released into the public domain is. What matters is that the image is free, and PD is as free as it can be. These photographs have clear encyclopedic value, so I wouldn't worry about them being deleted. :-)
- I'm not clear on the "orphan" issue that you've described, but I can't see that you've done anything wrong. —David Levy 07:49, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Here is a screenshot of my gallery. See the "orphan" tags, I am not sure why they are there. - NeutralHomer T:C 08:03, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, I see what you mean. I've created Category:Stephens City, Virginia and added the images. This appears to have addressed the issue. —David Levy 08:36/08:42, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed it has. If you want (if you are an admin at Commons too) you can delete the screenshot I sent you. Again, many thanks for your help. Take Care and Enjoy Your Sunday....NeutralHomer T:C 09:05, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome! I've deleted the screenshot. If you need any further assistance, don't hesitate to ask. I hope that you enjoy your Sunday as well! —David Levy 09:13, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

- Hi NH,
- I don't have any experience in it, but I absolutely love the name MediaPedia, and I hope you're able to start a seperate Wiki for TV and radio stations. I feel like... slowly, Wikipedia is killing itself, starting with the TV and radio stations. First there was AMIB's insistence that each article could contain one and only one Fair Use image (based on his own interpretation of policy). Then there was the deletion of the radio markets by size article (as a "copyvio") and the almost-deletion of the TV market article. Now the articles themselves are being targeted for deletion... even stations with clear notability (on the air for 45 years, potential audience of 313,000, with reliable sources to back this up). WP:TVS and the Radio WikiProject are being shown the door, and I'm very sorry to see it happen. My concern is that if this happens, it won't stop with radio and TV stations: network deletions will follow: "Oh, I've never heard of this network. Delete!" Firsfron of Ronchester 04:33, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi NH,
- You can help avoid accusations of canvassing by making sure whatever announcement you make is completely neutral. Just say, "Hey guys, did you notice this article up for AFD?" Firsfron of Ronchester 06:45, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
FYI
The userbox you just created is in violation of the Image Fair-Use policy. I'm not gonna tag it for deletion, but know that it will be eventually. JPG-GR (talk) 06:38, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Stephens City
A couple things I've noticed. First, the history section is very long -- it might be wise to start a separate article, linking to it using a 'see also' link from the beginning of the section; then provide a summary. Many of the other sections that follow are very short, and could definitely use some expansion. Also, the 'demographics' section contains text that was pretty much added by a bot several years ago, and could use a makeover (you might notice that lots of demographics sections for US city articles look like quite similar prose). Most of the figures are good here, but it might be good to spruce up the text a bit, maybe add some information that's not there, etc.
You might want to take a look at some of the articles in WP:CITIES that are current GAs (or even FAs). Two of the smaller towns that might make better guides are Flagstaff, Arizona and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. There's also a article structure guideline for US cities as well.
Cheers! Dr. Cash (talk) 07:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
RE: Notability discussion
I treated your contact as a request for comment. Yes, I would have worded it differently if I were you, as it could be interpreted that you were soliciting like-minded opinion, but as Firsfron of Ronchester pointed out, the other side did plenty of canvassing of their own. Nevertheless, you caused me no trouble, and I hope that I haven't caused you any, but if anyone wants to discount my opinion because you notified me of the discussion, I will fight it to the greatest extent possible. dhett (talk • contribs) 08:25, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Another question (if you don't mind)
I was wondering if you had an experience in adding the MediaWiki software to a website. I ask, becuase I am considering starting my own "wiki" for radio and TV stations and newspapers...a "MediaPedia", if you will :) Only problem is, I don't know how to load the software onto a website. If you would know how, or know someone who does, I would appericate any help you can give. Again, thanks for your help (last night as well). Take Care...NeutralHomer T:C 03:51, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have any experience with that, but you should be able to find all of the information/assistance that you need at the MediaWiki website. —David Levy 10:34, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Frederick County, Virginia map
I would be glad to make a Frederick County, Virginia map - it will also include Winchester, Virginia (which looks to be separate politically, but is completely surrounded by Frederick County - is that OK?). Could you please let me know what the legal subdivisions are called in Virginia in general (i.e. in Pennsylvania they are city, borough, township, but in Ohio they are city, village, township)? I will include them in the key. I have never been offered payment before - certainly no cash (but thanks for offering), but if you want to look over an article or two to return the favor sometime (i.e. in peer review), that would be nice. Also, since making all the Pennsylvania maps, I have gone to just black and white versions for the other states - hope that is OK, it is much faster and having started on one county in Viriginia, I suppose I will make county maps for all its counties at some point (though IL and TN are next in line with one county map each). I am working to improve an article in an FAC I was not planning on being involved in now, so it may take me several days. Take care, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:47, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

WIQO and Roanoke Market
Okay, last week when I edited WIQO, I noted its pending application to move to Forest, VA in the Roanoke-Lynchburg market (my guess is as a simulcast partner for WRON 97.7, but...) and added the Roanoke/Lynchburg box to the bottom of the page. You removed that change. Why? And why is WXCF listed as being part of Roanoke/Lynchburg despite transmitting from the same location as WIQO presently? (WXCF had applied for a similar move to Rustburg at the beginning of the year, but seems to have withdrawn it.) TripEricson (talk) 17:52, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, thanks for the welcome, I'm still feeling my way around, trying to put some of my knowledge to work. I made some edits before I made myself an account, but not many. WIQO and WXCY transmit from the same transmitter site with the same amount of power. How can WXCF put in signal in Roanoke while WIQO does not? (talk) 3:10, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks again, I was wondering how people signed their names like that! WXCF used to have their tower in a different location, but got evicted from that site and are now co-located with WIQO. I honestly don't recall hearing either one last time I was in Roanoke (last Spring Break) but I wasn't really listening for them either. I was more listening for things like W273AD. I don't know when I'll be in Roanoke again (it's not often you run into girls who want to go to the science museum, haha) but when I do, I'll check into it. TripEricson (talk) 23:37, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Station formats
Curious - does the website you use to get radio station formats have a page that lists all the possible formats? I'm trying to find a list of the possibilities to do a little organization off of, but can't do so without a list. (Arbitron didn't have a list, but definitely seemed to have fewer choices than your source.) JPG-GR (talk) 23:43, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Accusation of changing your vandalism report
There was an edit conflict as we were reporting the same vandal. As far as I can tell, the two reports came out, one after the other? Seriously, what was changed? I see two reports on the same IP address, one from you and one from me.
There was no intentional interference, but, frankly, I don't see what was changed, especially with enough seriousness to charge me with attempted vandalism. Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 18:47, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was not "completely obvious". It is often hard to tell which came first, and, indeed, I may have started my report before yours, and that caused the edit conflict because you hit send first. Isn't there a Wikipedia principle of assuming good faith? Shall we escalate this?
- As far as I am concerned, you are making threats over what, at most, was an accident. With all due respect for your self-disclosure, are you sure this isn't Asperger's speaking? I am happy to let the matter drop, although mutual apologies would be nice. Otherwise, this is being taken massively out of proportion. My Internet experience goes back to the ARPANET, and message sequences do get fouled up. Shall we drop the matter without further threats? Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 19:50, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- You were not insulted, unless you choose to make it such. "I said, "with all due respect for your self-disclosure", which is hardly "making fun." I have had valued close colleagues with Asperger's, who often asked for a reminder when their behavior seemed a little strange. You brought up the disorder on your page and asked for tolerance, and I offered repectful tolerance. This exchange is becoming absurd, and, given the probability of what simply was an edit conflict happening between two unknowing editors, is unlikely ever to happen again. Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 20:31, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Fair use and WAJR (AM)
You must include the article name for which the fair use rationale applies. Precisely. To the letter. Not close, not nearly, but exactly. Adding that (I usually do it in the summary, so something like "Fair use rationale for use in the blah article" where blah is exactly the title of the article it's used in. That way, Betacommandbot will leave you alone on this one! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:43, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've fixed a few of the images that I noticed you removed BetacommandBot's tag from...but I'm sure I haven't fixed them all. Again, as The Rambling Man noted above, "You must include the article name for which the fair use rationale applies. Precisely. To the letter." You're removing the tag from images which clearly do not include the exact name of the article in their fair use rationale, and the bot will continue to correctly tag the images until the rationale is correctly presented. --Onorem♠Dil 23:52, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
WXXS Repairs
76.118.247.91 (talk) 04:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC) Okay, thanks for fixing it. I thought there was a bit more I could include and I thought I had sources to back it up but I guess it wasn't encyclopedic enough. For that, I guess the article's current form stands as the final product...unless anyone else could generate more information that is encyclopedic and can be proven.
